Thank you for your submissions. (#165, #166, #169, #181, #182)
#181/#182, while well-made, are a little too simple. The small squares running diagonally also deceive a viewer into thinking that there is text inside the logo. We will probably not go with this design.
We are especially interested in #165/#166/#169. The elegant silver/blue strokes, along with the good coloration, lighting, and font, all make this one of our favorite designs. Could you elaborate on this idea and make the icon have more body? (Without making it resemble the letter "Q" any more, however. We are asking designers to keep their designs abstract instead of making letterforms.)
What can you do to convey some sort of "technical" or "scientific" feeling through the icon?
The slogan font is too small; it will be difficult to print and read on a business card, for example.
We would also like to see your designs on a white background, as this is a necessary usage of the winning design.
We really look forward to seeing updates and new ideas from you in the last day of the contest. Thank you!
Thank you quantumcode for helpful feedback! Here is updated variation #197 which I created before I saw your comment. When I started to play with your logo, letter "Q" was base for my submission, but later, during the process, I've tried to incorporate somehow your slogan "No Uncertainty" into it. So I decided to emphasize blue lines, which clearly show direction, path, determination on the way to goal. That was my idea.
I will try to work further on your suggestions and submit them as soon as I finish.
We do appreciate the idea behind #181/#182. It is mostly the fact that the icon is bounded in a square that we aren't that impressed by it. (The thick black square strokes are also not very flattering.) We are hoping for a very unique, eye-catching, memorable design with precise elements and subtle nuances. The other logo set definitely follows these guidelines a lot more, which is why it's ranked so highly.
Also, with the particular font you are using in #165/#197, the all-lowercase version seems to work better.
The idea (with blue lines) which I've described in post above was referred to designs #165 #166 #169 #197 Sorry for misunderstanding. Other idea #181/#182 is only abstract shape with bites and codes.
The design in #250 is still good, but we were hoping to see you apply that style to a different shape, one with more body and less resemblance to the letter Q.
The monochrome version is appreciated, we are just focusing on the color versions for the contest ranking.
#246 is a very elegant design. Despite the fact that it is a square-ish shape, the lack of border makes it feel open and free. We really like how the curved lines lead the eye into the distance. Along with the use of gentle colors, this makes it an instant top-10 logo. The larger slogan is better as well. We are still looking for a more 3-dimensional icon, though, so we're wondering if you can extend this image with some sort of depth. Also, how will it look on a white background?
Very interested in seeing your next updates. Thank you!
We like #256/#260 because the icon doesn't strictly stay inside its boundaries -- definitely a good thing for us. We're not sure yet whether we prefer the specific design of #246 or #256/#260, but this is a fairly minor detail.
For your new design, #261, the icon feels too thick and massive. It doesn't have the same elegance that your other icons convey. The silver is too dark, and the 3D effects on the text are too heavy. We definitely want a style closer to #250.
One thing we've discovered from your designs is that we seem to like long, thin elements that lead the eye, whether it's the three blue lines in #250 or the curving orbits in #246 or #256/#260.
Keep up the good work, we're really liking your stuff!
#262: Can you use a deeper, more liquid shade of blue for the planet (and possibly the text)?
Also, have you thought about making some sort of orbit around the planet? Might look very cool.
Can you do something more with the tiles that are detached from the surface? Maybe somehow connect them to our company name, to show that our company "builds" the world.
The hovering tiles in #277 look dirty at a small size. Actually, tiles don't really work for us in any of these icons.
The orbits in #265 and #268 are pretty nice. The concept of a world with an orbit has been done a million times before, though, so we're hoping to see some other elements (besides tiles) that you can suggest, to make it a logo that's completely unique to our company.
#279 is a very interesting shape. As you can guess, we really like the idea of a metallic shell and a colored (especially blue) liquid center. However, the particular shape you have here actually reminds us of a woman's genitals, which is otherwise great, but is not the message we want to give to our customers, so we probably need to alter the shape. Also, the metal and the blue dot could both use more reflectivity and a more polished surface. Finally, is there some way you could add some unique element to the design to disrupt the horizontal symmetry that's currently there?
Now that the contest is over, we are asking our top designers to continue working with us. We should be making our ultimate decision by the middle of next week, and we'd definitely like to see your final designs before then. We will move you to first place for a day or two so that we can work together. Does this work for you?
Thank you for these new submissions, and for all of your hard work during the contest.
The latest family of logos (#302/#304/#305/#306/#307) is good and simple, conveying speed and motion. The blue/silver colors probably work best, so #302 is the favorite of these (#304 is good too, although the silver might be too dark, but this is a small detail that can be fixed later).
We are now in the process of getting feedback on our top logos. You have made several strong designs over the course of the contest, and are obviously one of our top 3 designers. We'll have an answer in a couple of days. It's going to be a difficult decision!
