All designers: Consider the fact that we design clean-lined, modern buildings. We are thinking that our tag line (not to be articulated in the logo) is something along the lines of "Everybody deserves great design". Also, consider three lines of text--first four entries all have two lines. I'd love to see one with 47 in a circle (like an abstracted man-hole cover) with "public" above and "architects" below. Our brief calls for either monochromatic or black and white with a traffic yellow accent. We're also open to orange as an accent to black and white. Thanks!

Further consideration for the designers:

We like the circles, but none are quite hitting the right note yet. Think public works. Consider only capturing the number 47 in the circle. Consider text curving around the top and bottom. Consider the ability to turn the logo into an ink stamp--this may suggest that the fully shaded black circle is not the way to go.

Thanks!

FYI: I have a preference for the closed top 4's.

Beware of logo reading: "Public Architects" vs. "Public 47".

Great work folks. Next ranking to occur at 8pm this evening (PST). A couple of added ideas to keep things interesting:

1. We're starting to tilt towards logos that have Public and 47 together and Architects apart.
2. We'd like a logo that will make a good rubber stamp. While we love the strong blacks, it may be worth thinking about how much density of black will work with a stamp.
3. Total tangent here, but it may be relevant to know that "47" refers to our latitude here in Seattle, WA. It occurred to us that the graphic might be able to convey this idea. It would save us from always having to explain the source of the name! We recognize that it may be difficult to load a simple image with such specific information, but bonus points if you can do this and we love it!
4. We're liking fonts that are a bit more utilitarian-looking. Notice the fonts used on man-hole covers have a bit more space between numbers. Could this inform your approach? Will it convince us? We'll never know unless you try it.

Note from one of the partners: Very nice entries. Some questions to the designers: How does logo communicate attention to the specifics of a place (47deg north latitude)? and an interest in design contributing to its public realm? Could a circular element be integrated into a non-circular logo? Thanks for the effort.

Can somebody please tell me what I'm supposed to do now that the open phase is over? What does that mean? How do we proceed?
