Psykofa is the combination of a Ghanaian word 'Sankofa' meaning "go back & get it" or returning to ones roots & "Psychotherapy" which is based around talking or counselling therapies that encourage the unconscious being brought back into the conscious. Thus the notion is that the client (patient) is taken back to a point of trauma or other incident to recover by learning from the past.
