What We Do
Project WetKids provides out-of-school activities for middle school students (ages 11-14) teachers, and their families to explore the wetlands, explore side by side with scientists in the field, dissect sharks and frogs, observe naval architects and chemists at work, use binoculars to identify pelicans and egrets, and learn about scientific career paths on the coast.

Our Ideas & Additional Information
http://www.projectwetkids.net/

There are lots of pictures of our program on this page of the kinds of activities we engage in monthly. Additional ones can be found at the bottom of the page clicking on "Older Posts."

We also have a really ethnically diverse set of kids.

The kids also have WetKids backpacks they use for all their field work with journals, binoculars, magnifying glasses, collection boxes, water testing equipment, field guides, lab gloves, and sketch pads.

I like the idea of using binoculars but they are a bit hard to make out in #10. Perhaps a little more detail to make them obviously binoculars. I really like this format for use on stickers, printed on t-shirts, or use against various background colors, letterhead, etc. I like this is NOT square formatted, but would like more black in the logo especially as background for the green/blue WetKids letters you've chosen. And is it possible to make the frog a little smaller so you can tell it's a frog through the magnifying glass.

Thanks for all your creativity!

#12 is looking really good! Really like the frog and the space it and the binoculars create outside the oval. And even though I said more black I'm thinking it's a bit dark now with the grasses - sorry!

* Can we lighten it up a bit? Lighter frog, lighter grass?
* Make the binoculars a different color, maybe army green or silver?
* Can you change WetKids back to all one word like in #2 - and if it hangs over the sides a bit that's okay.
* Bring the word "project" down off the binoculars?
* Uncap "Bayou"
* And lastly, anyway to create a reflection of sorts in the binocular lenses of maybe a soaring pelican?

Thank you again!

#18 is really fun and looks exciting for big kids! I also really like the global backdrop. But I would like to have a child other than a white male, maybe a little less of a caricature, and a bit older (esp since kids always imagine themselves older than they are!). Even two kids, or kid and adult working together might work. Heru you have really incorporated so many of the facets of our program. Thank you for your entries!

#18 - Can you also do one without any humans? And just focus on the globe, wildlife, and the scientific equipment? Not sure if I want to go the character route at this point. Thanks so much.

#20 - Thanks much! I'm trying to communicate the needs of several in our group so thank you ALL for sticking with me.

* Can you work with the font a little and see if we can get a little more contrast and a bit more of a modern look - less bubbly and more edgy?
* And I like the soaring birds in #19 - Can those be incorporated as well?
* Do you have any more realistic looking animals/birds? Trying to ride the fine line of fun/science and adolescent/adult audience.
* And other wildlife ideas if this helps are: stingrays, egrets, turtles (sea or land), pampass grass, alligators, fish, dolphins, hawks, cranes.
* And again feel free to try and incorporate any equipment as in #10 - magnifying glass, binoculars, microscope, water testing, research ship/vessel, cast nets, fishing nets, . . .

#13 - Several on my team really like the look you did over the weekend - as do I!! Can you lighten up the background a little more? I know I led you down the black path but could you provide a couple options on the grass colors - not as light as in #10 but something in between #10 and #13.

Ha! Great minds I guess. Could you make the soil a little darker brown, less red?

Heru - I like the cleaner/simpler lines of #20 vs #29 - and still really like the use of the globe. However, I like several of the characters in #29 and would like to see how they look in #20. Please move the following from #29 to #20:

- Cattails
- Soaring birds
- Egret
- Alligator
- REMOVE the shark and replace with the dolphin

Lastly, I do not like the FONT used. Can you see if we can get a little more contrast and a bit more of a modern look - less bubbly and more edgy?

Bluberri - #13, #26, and #28 - Obviously we like this design. Anyway to incorporate the magnifying glass back into this one. But we all seem to like the frog creeping around the edge - so keep that. But the 3 items - mag glass, binoculars, and frog around/over the oval would be great.

Bluberri - In #41 can you remove the little words from around the outside and also shift the mag glass and bug down just a bit so the "K" is still readable.

And can you give the same as above with a black or brown background?

Thanks for all your effort!!
