Hi, Doncorvair!

These are really thoughtful designs. I like them both, particularly #7 and how each element comes together in a unified whole. I like the way you rendered the cross, and have some impressions of what it conveys -- I'd love to ask you a bit more about your thoughts in creating it, bc I'm sure there's even more than what I'm noticing -- and as a designer (of prayer beads, not graphics), every piece I create has a story and meaning behind it, even if the customer doesn't know every bit of it. So if it's not too much to ask, I'd love to know more from you, too. (And if your own design philosophy is 'it speaks for itself,' that's totally cool too).

Hi Diane,
Thanks for the ranking & the comments.
To be completely honest, I was inspired by a piece of jewelry I saw on your website.
It really stood out to me & I thought it would make for a nice logo.
I see it as a non-traditional cross & the jewels around the cross seem to represent
people gathering around the cross. Was that your take on it?
Please let me know if you would like to see any variations in colors, fonts or overall layout.
Thanks again,
Don

Hi, Don.

thanks for the info- I like your interpretation... for me, the combination of circles and cross is always appealing -- reminds me of Celtic crosses and the Irish sensibility that unites the old religion with Christianity -- a sense of connection with nature, the cycles of the seasons, etc. Also the idea of people of many backgrounds / locations coming together at the cross...

On #17, I am wondering if the addition of the spheres make it too busy-looking? What do you think -- or maybe there's a variation that suggests that, but is more subtle?

thanks!

ps I'd love to see what you'd create not using the cross... am going back and forth in my mind about whether I should include a cross or not. (see my general post for details about that). thanks again!

Thanks Diane,
I agree with your thoughts on #17 looking a little busy, I came up with that to represent a bracelet.
I'll work on some ideas without the cross & submit them later on tonight.
THanks again,
Don

Hi, Don-
I like the way you're thinking about the idea of a bracelet -- I'm guessing that's probably tough to render without making it look too busy. I'll lli for your designs and make comments again tomorrow morning!
have a great evening-

Hi, Don.

I really like what you are doing, and I think a slight shift would make it an even better fit - are there ways you can introduce a sense of playfulness, or something that fits with the idea that these are hand-crafted? I'd want to err on the side or art and play more than church and pray. (Even though 'pray' is right in the name: my own sense of prayer is a down-to-earth one: think Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, or the quote from Voltaire about God being a comedian playing to an audience who's afraid to laugh.)

thanks again!

Hi, Don...

another thought: I like the color palette in #31 and the way you play with the typeface, but it feels a little square-edged (sorry, I don't know proper design terms). It has a stable, solid feel -- and I think I want something that feels a bit more fluid, the way #7 does. is there some way to bridge the feel of the two (I'm not asking to combine actual elements --unless that works -- just something that's has a bit more movement to it.)

thanks and i hope i'm not asking too much!
have a great evening.

PS am definitely extending the contest till monday end of day.
