Discussion

Is there a difference between entry #3 and 4?

sorry, I think it's uploading problem... I will withdrawn one of them. thanks for the comment.

Client
thanks!
Could you also include something that shows the concept of 'network'?

also, we don't mind if this evolves a bit towards an abstract mark. (so: combination between the letters 'PNN' and a pictorial mark).

I like #5, but could the P be a bit more visible? Now, you only notice if you know it's there.

#9 definitely is an improvement over #5.

however, if you find the inspiration during oncoming days for something (maybe completely different) which combines PNN with 'Network', that would be highly welcome!

#12 and #13: nice concepts, but both are too hard to recognise the people, especially in small print.

The letters 'PNN' could be a bit less static/formal.
Maybe you could incorporate the letters 'PNN' more with the graphics.

#13 is a bit too playful.

For #7: could you make the first P and last N somewhat more clearer? We like the stylish design of that one as well.

thanks for the comments... I'm trying to put some abstract on the "PNN". Do you like some ideas about to change the "PNN" into abstract shapes? I you do, I will get some other designs... thanks

after consultation with our fellow boardmembers, we found the letters PNN not clearly enough visible in logo's #4, #8, #9: if you don't know the organisation, you don't notion immediately that we are 'PNN'. In that respect, #15 is ok.

in answer to your question: really like the combination between an abstract mark combined with the letters PNN, the way you show in #15. It would be great if you show us your ideas!

Maybe you could use something more abstract, which focuses more on 'network', instead of the shapes that can be clearly visible as humans.

thanks for your question! Feel free to ask more.

Dear CH, I submit my new ideas while keep thinking about something that can symbolize "network". Cheers..

#21, #22: much better without the gradients. Keep that in mind for following logo's.
good luck.

we're planning to use the logo on both our website and printed, so we'll mainly use it on a white background.

could you therefore send in new logo's with a white background only, so that we may see what it will really look like when we take it?
thanks!

Thank you for entry #32, it has a good amount of playfulness, although #7 and #15 have more character. Although orbits is one way of creating a scientific character, we might consider a more abstract visualisation of a network that looks less like an orbit. :-)

- thanks for all the designs, really appreciated! but still: no real number 1 in there yet. Some suggestions from our group:
- please use white backgrounds, makes it clearer for us to see how it looks on website
- maybe use a mortarboard-icon instead of the 2 people (#15) (http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&nord=1&biw=1687&bih=872&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=mortarboard&oq=mortarboard&aq=f&aqi=g1&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=6254l6254l0l1l1l0l0l0l0l65l65l1l1)
- make first P and last N more pronounced for #7, just like you did with #15?
- feel free to submit more diverse designs, also not sticking to the orange, really no obligation to use that color.

I put some kind of outline around the mortarboard and PNN to symbolize "network"

#35 very nicely represents the NETWORK aspect we were looking for! Good job!

for us, this also is a bit of a democratic process. So, some do like a pictorial mark (like #35), some don't, so it's a bit about convincing each other. so:

I really like #35, but I personally prefer abstract figures: could you maintain the network concept but either (a) replace the mortarboard with something more abstract, or (b) make a more abstract version of the mortarboard. (c) or both (in two more logos).

simultaneously, could you make the N's a bit clearer (by restoring the upper triangles)
thank you! I think you're doing great work.

#36, #37 are less what I meant.

with abstract, I actually meant: straight lines only, not too much detail, so maybe a front-view like:
_______
| | | (but than graphical of course)
*

and we really like the 'network', so the lines with the dots and the ends, so please keep those!.
good luck!

the 'example' didn't really work out: I meant more spaces between the |'s.

one more request: I think the position of the mortarboard in #35 is perfect!

Sorry I didn't get what you meant before... Well... I was trying to redesign the position of the mortarboard and keep the lines and the dots...

I think they could be better than this:

Actually, #35 is good as it is, but you could put less detail into the mortarboard (more iconic), maybe more straight instead of curved lines. I think it'll look better if the mortarboard doesn't contain the 'network-dots'.

I like especially the seemingly random distribution on the network-lines in #35 (including the one dropping down into the P), and the way you used the colors. Do you get what I mean?

Could you update #7 so it has a white background + making the left part of the P and the right part of the last N more clear? (black vertical line)

Dear "Mangozie"!

As you can see one of your logos, #109, is still standing in the number one position. Could you make this logo more square, by moving the text to underneath the letters? This will make it more usable for a twitter account, for example.

Regards

dear CH, thanks for the rank. I'm submitting the new one that you suggest in two version...

One more request
Could you try to use an even "cleaner" font? It does not need to be very different - it is a subtle thing. For example, if the font you used had vertical sides for the capital letter "M" it might fit the overall vertical lines of the logo better.

my last two designs with straight fonts, cheers..

IF you are maybe online now, could you make #115 using black for the text under the logo?

dear CH, this is the one you suggest me, text in black. wish you all the best. Cheers...

Dear CH, just wonder about you said early that all you need for the logo is abstract mark or letter form, NOT the picture mark. And, I think that's why you eliminated my design that used the pictoral version of mortarboard while asked me to changed it more abstract. But then you put another design with the clearer mortarboard at the 1st rank. I'm not sure, but it's just my opinion...
Thank you for the perfect feedback and ranks... Good luck with your project.
