Hi there,

Hope your having a good week so far?

Here are some of my concepts. I've gone for something that's fairly clean and simple, yet striking. Creating an icon that works well within the logo or as a stand alone element, one that can be used for things like favicons or watermarks.

The logos are 100% vector so will scale well to any size, and works well in full colour, B&W and on coloured backgrounds if needed,

It would be my pleasure to work up any variations so please do say.
I look forward to your comments or thoughts.

Regards,
Angus

Hi Angus - thank you for your first entries. I really like the vibrant colours and I agree that the shapes will scale well and be distinctive enough to work in B&W too. I think the strongest of yours for me at this point is #8 because it feels warm and gathered. #7 is simple and clever, but for some reason leaves me a bit cold emotionally - also, when I look at it a lot, there's an unintentional hint of rearranged swastika which is always good to avoid completely! #6 is a nice idea bringing the circles and cross elements together, but I think we need to avoid anything which looks too much like a target or crosshairs - it's more aggressive than we would like! For more ideas, we put in the brief that we really like Bethlehem Baptist's gathering of simple shapes around a cross - obviously we can't copy that, but I wonder if you are onto something with your #8 design as a starting point. I'd love to see some more ideas. Thanks again and best wishes, Bern Leckie @ Pip n Jay

Hi Bern,

Thanks for the great feedback and direction, always appreciated!
Now that you mention it, all I can see in #7 is that rearranged swastika LOL. Definitely not something you want to see!!

Here are a few iterations #20 and #21
Will keep on thinking :)

Cheers

Hi Angus - this is great stuff! I like the roughness which resolves into a clear shape in #22, and the colours and distinctive shape of #21 are strong. #20 is also great colour-wise, but I think the shape of the cross is a little too suggestive of vintage/antique for us. I wonder if there is anything you can do which would be a bit more representative of people or community, which is a really important part of who we are? In terms of your style, though, I love your boldness and would love to see more. Best wishes, Bern

Hi Bern,

Maybe something like these; #45, #46, #47 and #48?

Hi Angus, I'm liking the new ideas, especially #48 - has a nice energy to it, though perhaps a bit impersonal, and #45 - actually this one is growing on me a lot now that I see the people in it (I'll move it up the rankings!) #46 and #47 also nice but too much like the stick figures we'd like to avoid. The more I look at #45, the more I love it - any variations to suggest on this sort of idea? Many thanks, Bern

Hi Angus - just a suggestion if you're up for a few more ideas. We've encouraged lots of 4-part things which suggest a cross shape, but (as I've just put in a general comment to all) we're also interested 3-part ideas because of our belief in God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Does that help if you're looking for more inspiration? We're still very much looking for all ideas to convey a sense of people coming together somehow, and I love how you did that so simply and originally with #48. Best wishes, Bern

Hi Bern,

Thanks again for the feedback!

Here are a few iterations, trying to bring in the 3-part ideas with the icon, whilst still keeping it simple and clean. I've also tried different fonts and positions for each one - so something to compare it to.

Look forward to your comments.

Hi Angus, thanks for your latest! #110 is really clever and growing on me a lot as I look more - it's like four superheroes flying out on a mission, and revealing a cross in their wake is just genius! I don't know if any simplifying will help it stand out even more? #108 and other variations around those figures is nice. I love the ambiguity over whether they are really extroverts with arms raised or introverts behind books - more people I showed it to today only saw the introvert version, but that might change looking at it more... Very clever!

It's getting really hard now to give feedback without comparing to others' work, but my general sense is that the ideas most likely to win will be as simple as possible, and also carry a sense of connection between people and/or a sense that the viewer is invited to join in. Any more suggestions welcome! Many thanks again, Bern

Hi Angus - I'd just like to thank you again for your contributions to our logo contest. I'm sorry to say that you didn't win, but the team enjoyed the breadth of your ideas and I very much enjoyed working with you. On the basis of this, I've recommended to other people who may be commissioning logos later that they seek your input, so I hope good things come out of this for you later. Thanks again and best wishes, Bern

Hi Bern,

Thanks for a great project - just sad I couldn't spend more time on it!
That said you have a great logo. And thanks for being a responsive and great client.

And thanks for recommending me, that's very kind of you.

All the best
