Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage more participation.
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monitary means of showing apprecaition for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

1st place - 50 points
2nd place - 20 points
3rd place - 10 points
4-6th place - 5 points
7-10 place - 3 points
10th on - 1 point

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

The current #1 example is on the right track for the feel we're looking for. I like the green color chosen in that example more so than in current example #2 (slotted as "not interested"). I can appreciate the DIY sort of palette and feel in current example #2, but it's a bit too cluttered and the particular combination of yellow and green is going in the wrong direction for me. I like the choice of font tending more towards current example #1 than current example #3. Also, current example #3 lacks color. We're not sold on the cartoon feel. However, cartoon submissions we would consider would have to really speak to our brand.

Think less traditional pocket-protector-geek and more runway-geek - loose tie, chic horn-rims, white oxford shirt, slacks, wing-tips, cardigan with patches on the elbow, sophisticated and suave. I'm not afraid of edgy and need clean and tight designs. Withdrawn examples did work towards incorporating the hornbeam glasses, but using the lenses as e-form-letters did not work well. The spelling did not read as g-e-e-k. One of the withdrawn examples enlarged the "A" in current example #1 to extend it into the nose of the glasses. Unfortunately, that tended to looked too much like the nasal cavity of a skull.

We appreciate your ideas and await great designs.

Regards,

A Geek

p.s. Play with the color of the frame of the glasses. The frame does not have to be black.

Try, also, playing with "phg" - abbreviation of phreakageek. And, we've updated the sliders on for the style/concept section of the breif.

Ok, we are taking away all the requirements from the competition. We want people to be as creative as possible . What we have now is not worth $250. Keep the thumb nail going in your presentation, but give us a spark of your true ability.

I like the green in example #10 as it is interesting and bold. However, when it is the dominant color, it washes itself out. I think that using that hue of green sparingly goes a long way.

your above comment is well...is not going to bring new designer into this contest....You have chosen to pay the minimum for a contest..which is fine...however there are several brilliant idea submitted already. Also you need to realize we are working for FREE and there is only 1 winner.

We as designers chose which contest to enter not based on prize but what we can contribute....we all have certain design skill that work well with certain brand types or companies. For all those who have entered hat's off to you for taking the time out your busy schedules to take part in this contest.

To EastCoast Creative, although you make valid points about the contest, and you seem to be some what thinned skinned in the comments that we made, Yes, this is the lowest amount offered for this contest, but it was our choice, just like it's your choice not to participate.

To SeedLogo, if sarcasm is part of your moderating, then we want another moderator.

You should understand that, with a contest, you're not getting a $250 logo. You're getting what we time we can justify spending with the chance of getting only $250. To some designers - that chance may buy a lot of time. To other, not so much. That said, to say that NONE of the entries is worth the minimum fee is fairly insulting. Just letting you know.

Jecrt and to whomever else wants to comment on this, enough already. I get it your insulted, fine! If you don't have any good criticism about the contest then do not post anything on this site.

Let's stop the chatter here about the contest prize or the comments that have been made thus far. If any designer has a problem, just don't enter this contest. Move on to something else, and leave this space for the CH to give direction to those who are participating.

Since when do we call out contest holders on how much they enter for their prize money? It's their choice. That's rude. If you don't like it then don't enter their contest. You can't bully the geek on here to spend more! lol

The contest has come to a close and we have chosen a design. stormbighit came almost exactly to the point expressed in our early post on 16 September. Unfortunately, the design by stormbighit says "greek" where it should say "geek". But, I'm in contact with the designer to fix that.

We appreciate all of your ideas and creativity as we ended up with many good designs to choose from. Thank you for participating.

Best Regards,

Does anyone know if stormbighit will be able to post changes via the site now that the contest has ended? Or, will we need to open the contest up again for that functionality (supposing e-mail address exchange is not wanted)?

daf,
Only the person in first place will be able to continue to submit. As long as he is ranked first, you can still receive files from him.
