Interesting design, but I'm not sure people would recognize the circles in the P as a traffic signal. Could a footprint (not a shoe print) fit in this area? I'd also like to see how the logo would look if you used a bold font.
hi this is the update: #69 = put white space footprint on the D, bolder font #70 = put white space footprint on the S #71 =put a pair of foot prints #72 = conceptual design based on tagline...walkable tommorow idea. the spehere the lines and the footprint can describe it. modern, #D but also distinctive. This logo can be iconic, favicon and stabdalone logo.
I like the use of orange in 76 and 75. Try adding that to #72. I need to leave for a meeting. I hope I'm able to make more suggestions when this is in later stages of the contest.
The purple feet in # 78 are more likely to show up well than the orange feet in #122. The font in #78 is better than the font in #124. Try using orange font for slogan -- with versions that are bold and not bold. Lower case.
Thanks for the feedback. I have made the revisions of the designs
#127 = bold tagline, orange #128 = thinner font #129 = thinner font and modify the icon so the feets a little bit placed inside.
feel free to ask further revisions. I'm glad if you like my design and show progress.
Btw, have you decide between going with my stand alone logo or #26 ? if you like design from other designer, I will try fe more concepts and leave this behind.
Hi Keegan. I haven't decided between yours and #26. I just sent a link to the contest to six friends who are involved with PEDS to ask for their feedback. Several of them have much more design skill and marketing experience than I do. I haven't heard back from any of them yet.
The footprints in yours are an advantage in making it clear the crosswalk is a crosswalk. I also like the upward angle of the crosswalk . The advantage in #26 is the shape of the crosswalk, which is similar to what you used in 75 & 76. We use this shape in a program logo we plan to continue using (Safe Routes to Transit Initiative.) you can see this at http://peds.org/wp-content/uploads/4729-SR2T-toolkits_Final.pdf
I like the upward angle in the crosswalk you designed in the one that I ranked highest. Could you adjust the shape of the crosswalk lines a bit so that they're more like what you used in 75 & 76? I'd like to see how that compares.
I use the same crosswalk in #78 as #75 and #76. did you point the wrong design?
one more important question... will you make the logo to follow the feel of design/ program in your PDF (color, text, etc), or you want the PDF adjust the logo ?
as you can see the pdf has burnt orange and solid black font.
Sorry about my confusion on the numbers. I was looking at the # above the design instead of below it. The correct ones are #70 and #71. Also # 69. I don't know if that will work at an angle, but please give it a try. You are a very creative designer -- and it helps a lot to get beyond the thinking of what we've been using for the past 15 years.
I'm not sure I understand your second question. We use Avenir 65 and Avenir LT Std 65 Medium for many of our materials. The font you're using looks similar. I expect we'll continue using those fonts, so if that's not what you're using and you have access to that, I'd like to see that and compare. The orange color we use is Pantone 1665 (RGB = 220/68/5). The purple we use is Pantone 430098 (RGB = 70/49/146. We will continue to use the Safe Routes to Transit logo for that program. If we continue to use our current PEDS logo, it will only be for a specific program -- one that raises awareness of drivers' responsibilities to pedestrians at crosswalks. I hope that answers you question.
We just contracted with a webmaster to redesign our website, and are willing to consider other shades of orange. For web links, we find a stronger orange works better. We just selected the orange Pantone about 6 weeks ago and the Safe Routes toolkits is the only document where we've used it.
On# 78, I'd like to see how the slogan looks in black. It may stand out more, especially where we use it on something small. Lower case bold may be best.
#133 is terrific. I really like the orange line beneath walkable. Please try purple for PEDS.
Also increase the space a bit between letters. Not as much white space as in 78 or 122, but enough so that it doesn't look like the letters are almost touching.
Great work. I'm leaning toward purple for PEDS in both your designs -- but am leaving both colors in so I can hear back from others before making a decision. The slogan is much easier to read in the design without the circle. I'll provide more feedback after hearing from others
Thanks for your recommendation on 136 and 143. I agree that black is too strong for PEDS in 144. The slogan is much easier to read in 136. I'll take that out, but wait to hear back from others before moving any other.
Hi Keegan. Yes. #136 is still my favorite. Our graphic designer and the person on our board of directors who has the most knowledge about communication and marketing both liked it and #143 best.
I prefer the simplicity of #136 -- The image in 143 is appealing, but I think the slogan will not be as legible when we print it in a small size.
I may wait until Tuesday to make a final decision -- the staff member who disliked our current logo the most won't be in the office until then. The car and woman in the current logo are what she disliked, so I'm confident she'll like #136. I can probably reach her by phone tomorrow.
The tagline in the one you just submitted is easier to read. I hadn't thought about OPEDS, but that may be more true of #143 as well. I just received notification that the contest has ended. I assume that means you can't submit anymore. But if you can, see how it would work if you put the image after PEDS.
Thanks. You are a terrific designer - -and competitor.
