Graphic at the left needs to be less stylized and more obviously communicating "News". This is a current events, what's happening right now publication. Tagline is difficult to read ... just a thought, break it into two lines??

#27 This is definitely closer, but the graphic is still not what we're looking for. Here's an updated link for an idea which we'd like illustrated - http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-6518803-daily-extra-newspaper-headline-on-white-background.php?st=129433f . No circles, loops, etc.

#2 - could the word "Paywall" get bigger? Words should start on line horizontally with the top of the graphic. the word "Times" would have to get bigger too probably at the same time to keep it balanced. Tagline bigger would be nice as well for readability.
