Our Ideas & Additional Information
Thank you in advance for your submissions. We are looking for a strong icon that captures our plugin's value prop that can stand alone, as well as the option to have a full logo with the brand "Paid Memberships Pro". The logo will most often be used in landscape format but we would like the option to have a portrait/square variation for other purposes.

Some concepts that we've considered include: a user/avatar, money/bills, a cog, a lock/key. Please do not feel bound by these - that's why we are using LogoTournament.

Discussion

Hi, everyone. Thanks for spending the time working on our new logo. We're getting quality submissions and are we're excited about what we'll end up with.

We're trying to reply to every submission individually, but here is some general feedback based on what's been submitted so far.

1. It's important that we don't emphasize the "Pro" in the name. It's better to highlight "Membership" or "Paid" or use a different color for each word. This is because many WordPress plugins have a "lite" and "pro" version. We don't have different versions of the plugin. The "Pro" in our name is just part of the name. It's understandably confusing, but we're committed to the brand name at this point. The best we can do is not overly highlight the pro in the name.

2. The WordPress logo cannot be used in our logo (as cool as it may look). They are very strict about policing the use of their logo. It is possible to do similar things in the "letters in a circle" genre, but I'm not sure if that will work.

3. Our tagline is not set in stone and not an important part of our logo/brand at this point. It's good to include the tagline in the logo in a way that makes sense, but don't spend too much time working the specific tagline into the logo. In general, people have been working the tagline in well, but I wanted to make sure you don't feel constrained by it.

4. The design of the icon/mark/graphic that goes along with the text will be a very important part of our decision process. We're digging the padlock. Digging the use of "little people" (but want to avoid it looking too much like a pharmaceutical company's logo). Digging little people that are drawn using checkmarks, etc.

-We're wondering if more can be done with stylized dollar signs or other signs of money. In the end, we help our customers make money. Turning people into money might be an interesting idea to play with.- <-- Edit on this: After seeing more entries with $ in them, it's pretty clear that $ screams "cheap" and "cheesy". Let's avoid $ if possible. Other signs for money (coins, bills) might work better, but be careful. Thanks.

5. We will probably use the logo in dark and light web pages. If it's not too much trouble, it's worth it to show an inverted version of any logo that gets ranked.

Thanks again for all of your hard work.

Thanks to everyone who has participated in our tournament so far. Thanks to the top 5 for submitting great ideas.

In a few minutes, we will upload an image with a color scheme to use. Please try to map these colors to your revisions.

Please submit versions of your logos on white and dark backgrounds, with and without taglines. This will help us tell which logos are most flexible.

We will also give specific feedback on the individual contributions. Thanks again.

Thanks again to the top 5 and everyone who submitted logos. The response was really great.

We've "ranked" the logos to make them easier for us to compare. We are currently deciding between the variants of #167 and #146 and will select the winner shortly.

We're going to be running another tournament for a client in a week or so and will try to get in touch with everyone here to submit logos for it.

Cheers.
