I think a grey graphite tone would be good rather than black. The a warmer more solar colour (mix between yellow, orange, red) for the icon.

Are you able to try a different colour other than blue? perhaps a dark orange?

Also would you be able to change the black to a dark grey? Perhaps more of a graphite colour.

I would like to see some other versions as a contrast. The only concern is that the blue makes it feel a little cold.

I had comments that some people felt that it reminded them a bit of the Obama presidential campaign logo. So wanted to make it feel a little warmer (solar focussed) and a little more techy (apple like). We feel this logo is very very close, just needs some tweaking as described above.
