Whoops--design #8 is actually my number one rank at the moment because I like that you can see the vertical window/door jam in this one. It has nice motion, I really like that the car is rounded, more like a classic English bobby's vehicle--kind of retro, which suits our no-tech product line in a nice way. Don't know if the slightly-left of center lettering was intentional, but it does make it look like the car is driving off from the lettering, which further supports the feel of motion. I like the classic font, too. Nice.
Can you give any info about your product line? Like if it is workbooks, toys, both? Is it mainly reading materials or is also writing and math? Thank you
RE: #14 Sahmmy, our product line is all no-tech educational materials, many designed to teach or enhance reading skills, strengthen thinking skills like attention, visual skills, logic, memory, processing speed. Speed is a big part of what we do. The families we work with are concerned about the number of hours their children spend using electronic media so our intent is to be hands-on, no-tech or low tech. Yes, toys, some games that are already in production like Concentration, Perfection, card games. Not really workbooks, except instructional materials and videos to teach parents how to use our products and improve their child's IQ in just 10 minutes per day. Hope this helps.
#17 I really want to like this design as I like the lines; it has kind of retro feel, but there's just too much going on. I can't see how this would look on our collateral materials as it's too busy. If you'd dropped out the airplane and the script abc's it would be tighter, and the remaining ABCs would have to be reconfigured because it looks like exhaust. The balance in the font size between "on-the-go" and "learning" is too great so it looks out of balance to me. That being said, I like the color choice, book and car. It's definitely got motion, which is important to me.
#34 and #33 The pencil is a great idea; it's a bit too rounded for me and I don't want the butterfly (but that is a sweet touch). I think it would look too much like a rocket if all of the letters were inside the pencil and the motion lines were out the back, but somehow the "on-the-go" and the "learning" don't look like they go together in the design.
Re: #51 I like this entry, too, and it has quite a different feel from your others. I especially like the balance of the logo lettering, and the coloration is a unique interpretation, different from the majority green and purple entries we've received. I'm going to miss seeing your multiple interpretations of that little rounded car! Thanks.
Actually, now we see that you designed #9 as well. Is it possible for you to use that #9 car (with the ABC inside) and motion lines in place of the car in #47? The yellow isn't our favorite but I can see why you used it in the context of the pencils, etc. that you created.
I'm uploading a couple slight variations. Removed the hyphens and switched the yellow back to green. In the second variation I just extended the motion lines a bit and gave the left side of the book more height. I like the combination of the two designs - don't know why I didn't think of it :) Of course if there are any other changes you'd like to see, I'd be happy to make them.
Re: #89 Thanks for this revision. I'd like to see the car with "open" windows (no ABC) like in your design #51 and the lettering of "on the go learning" as in #9. Thanks so much.
Hi, Sahmmy! Almost there with #89! The lettering and coloring is perfect; the book is my preferred over the others (I liked the one slender page, since that's what books really do, but I'm not convinced this will reproduce well in printing. The short motion lines are my preference, although I'm a little torn there. Can you please separate them just a smidge so you can feel the air move between them? The size of the car is just right, and I like how the wheels are up off the book like it's floating/hopping a bit. (The proportion of #95 seems like the car is just a little large, so I'm preferring #89 EXCEPT I'd like the clear/white windows of #95.) One last thing: is the spine of the book exactly centered above the lettering? It's a bit hard for me to tell, and I'd like that balance since the car/book are asymmetrical above it. So, just those three possible small changes, and this seems complete. Thanks so much for asking good questions and being open to these minute requests!
Put a little separation between the motion lines, and went with the white windows. You were right that is was slightly off center, so I moved it over - the image and text are now aligned center. I wasn't sure which font style you prefer, so I'm uploading both versions.
Thank you for all the feedback, it's quite helpful. And of course if there are any other changes you'd like to see, it'd be no problem.
