Color Preferences
We are open to many color combinations, from the dark to bold, just stay away from pastels. Prefer Blues and oranges, but please do not limit your designs to these colors. I wil comment on different color combinations that I like and will also ask to see designs I like in different colors.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
We are thinking of something really bold, but possible alternative is to use a rustic theme to represent the rugged landscape of Northern BC. Natural Colors, mountains, trees, etc.

Hello! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing apprecaition for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for ranked designs. We like to earn points.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

On exaple #3 I really like the negative on the word "York". I'm assuming the shape is a mountain. Would it be possible to see what the design would look like with a little 3d effect on the mountain or a little more detail? The mountains up here are ususally snow capped and have a brilliant flash of light off the mountain tops when sunny. Hopefully that helps. I really like the design.

On exaple #4 Still not fond of the colors. I think the 2 color original design looks better than the 3 color design. Still too simple. I should have slid the bar over to the complex side. I didn't want anything to busy, but still want something that pops.

On example #5 and #6 you provided what I asked for, unfortunately the customer is not always right. I will check with others but to me they appear too busy. Can we go back to example #3, and increase the trasition slightly on the mountain from light to dark, top to bottom (I hope that makes sense) and add a glimmer of light like a star on the mountain peak on the right side. Thanks, and sorrry if I sent you in the wrong direction.

A note to all designers. Please add Inc. to North York Marketing & Distribution. We have recently incorporated so are now North York Marketing & Distribution Inc. Thank you and sorry for any inconvenience.

On exaple #7 I like the emblem concept, but am not fond of the emblem it self. I like the reflection underneath the emblem, although that would be lost for promo items, but would work on printed/web, which is fine. The font is not bold enough. We have a credit union (bank) locally that uses a very similiar looking emblem. Overall a good first effort and it's nice to see another designers dramatically different entry.

Exaple #8 I like the abstract shape. The font is a little too square and "robotic" for my tastes. Perhaps some kind of shiny effect on the anstract would make it pop. I'm not interested in a blue/green logo. I wish I could help you more with the colors. Maybe black/red, black/teal, blue/orange, black/green, black orange.

Example #9 the arrows remind me of recycling. We are not going for the "green" environmental image, especially since we do not produce anything. Think more progressive or forward than in circles.

Example #13 The mountains are very easy to tell they are mountains. Detailed yet simple. The border I can tell is with a compass theme, but it may be to "prickly". Do you have any other ideas for the border?

Example #14 I like the overall look. However, I don't think the "N" would be the prominent symbol for our company. Are there any "NY" symbol options that wouldn't make people think of New York?

Example #15 I like it. The mountains look better. I like the color and gradiant better. Looks very sun rise, which is nice.

Example #16 and #17 The stars make it look very night time, which is not what we are going for. When I suggested a star it was more like a glimmer of light reflecting off the mountain than a star in the sky. I'm imagining a 4 pointed star or swirl, in white, rather than your generic 5 pointed star. Think of a peice of metal or mirror reflecting the sun near the top of the mountain.

Example #10 #11 and #12 The design is nice, it just doesn't speak to me. I don't really know what constructive feedback I could give you here.

A general idea for all designers. Since many of you are going with a mountain theme it gave me an idea for a slogan. I was thinking of "Your Path to the Top" or "Your Guide to the Top" or "Taking You to New Heights". This is just an idea, and in no way is this our offical slogan. I only make this suggestion to help those already going in that direction. Please do not limit your entries to this idea or to a mountain theme. A nice looking logo that represents our company is much more important that a slogan at this time.

On example #18 I like how the color bar made the "Marketing & Distribution" bolder while also making the "York" stand out more. I'm still not sure if we would use a slogan, or what that slogan might be, but I consider this a very good candidate if we went in that direction. Hopefully you can change to a different slogan easily enough if this design did win the contest?

Example #19 and #20 are good too. I prefer the negative on the words "Marketing & Distribution" over the slogan like in #18 and prefer the colors of #18 and #19 over #20

Example #21 - #24 I know I said or area is relatively remote, but we still use trucking companies to move product, not float planes. I like the color combinations. All good looking logos but I don't think they apply to our company.

Another possible slogan idea for those working with the "North" directional concept would be "The Right Direction for Your Expansion"

Example #26 The only thing I don't like are the colors. Love the abstract globe with the northern arrow. Can we some other color combinations please.

Example #27 I also really like this one. I see that there is some darkness/color differential on the abstract. Can we see one with this more pronounced.

Example #25 is also very good, I just like your other 2 submitions much better. The really great thing about your designs is how they would look great on web, print, and monochrome.

Hello all designers. The extention request for this contest was done several days ago when we only had approximately 20 entries, I suspect that due to the holiday long weekend in North America that our request with Logotournament took longer than usual to process. Since our request we have recieved several other high quality entries and no longer felt the need to extent the contest. On that note WE WILL BE ENDING THE CONTEST EARLY. In fairness to any designers who have started entries today we will allow submitions for the next 5 hours only. This is to allow any work that has been started to be completed. In 5 hours this contest will be manually ended early. No other submitions will be accepted 5 HOUR AFTER THIS POST DATE AND TIME.

Thank you and I apologize for any misunderstanding.
