Dear Ysonmez:
There was some confusion on our side about the guidelines for the contest, but we are in the judging phase and you are ranked first! I have several teammates who strongly prefer #233, with the motto forming a ring around the logo. My own preference is
#236. A few thoughts:
1) I find
#236 to be the most beautiful logo design overall. My only reservation is that it does not provide any link to the past at all -- the font is totally different, as are the colors. Yet I really like the font you used for the words "Newbury Living." I'm pretty sure it is a third-party font (because I have seen or or two places elsewhere), nevertheless, it is possible for you to modify the "N" in Newbury slightly, to give the bottom left end of the N a somewhat longer and more upward-turning serif?
2) Two of my teammates are concerned that the risk of changing the name of our firm from "Newbury Management Company" to "Newbury Living" is that people might confuse us for a magazine. This is why they like the incorporation of the motto in #233. For me, however, it is too busy and wordy. The circle of words detracts from the simple beauty of your "N in a house" design. Can you come up with a few other ways to show the motto with logo
#236? It may be as easy as using the same font as "Newbury Living" but unbolded and/or italics to write the motto below. We will not use this motto in all cases. For example, on the side of a building. Just in limited cases such as the footer of an email. (On a baseball cap, I envision your main logo
#236 in the front, and the motto either on the side of the hat or the strap on the back.)
3) After the contest is over, are we permitted to contract directly with you to develop variations on this logo for various other purposes? For example, clothing design, or specific signage?
Thanks,
Frank Levy
