Nice-looking with a good feel to it, but pretty sure it would be an effective logo for almost any type of business. What makes the pictoral mark suggest a counseling center? Other ideas?
My concept is that during successful counseling, a shift occurs in the person being counseled. The globe is made up of bars, each having a gradient that shifts from light to dark. Each bar is representative of a person undergoing a personal shift as a result of counseling.
Beyond that, orange is a very current color and the typestyle is very modern. All together, a visual representation of a progressive group of counselors that cause change (shifts) to occur during the course of their work.
I normally let the images sell themselves. In this case, I'm glad you saw that there was something going on beyond a nice mark. I hope this explanation helps. Thanks!
By the way - check out my entry for another counseling client. The organization is called "Getting Along". As you will see, I really think about the client, what they do and then provide a visual interpretation.
