I would love to see your #1 and #6 with rebar incorporated in the design or lettering. maybe the S in #6? or in #1 more specific skyline or rebar columns. Google images has some great examples of rebar used in jobsites or just a large closeup. I also put a few of those on my updated contest profile. Thank you for your design.
sounds good. I think I like #6 more but the S should try to have the raised texture of rebar. maybe the other letters in New can gradually get larger and the letters.."teel" after the S get gradually smaller? maybe that makes it pop in more a 3d fashion. just a thought.
#1 i like. lots of potential. Would be interested in the words maybe being supported by rebar, which is one of our main products. We sell rebar, wire mesh, steel coils, etc used in concrete bridges, skycrapers, concrete solar bases. Would be cool to see the skyline you have to reflect those images in your own style.
Hope all is well and stay safe. I live in a hurricane prone area and yesterday did not look good. No worries at all. Thanks for getting back to us. I really like the way the rebar looks in #40. Love the 3 D look to the rebar..that is what we prefer..as much detail on the rebar as possible. Maybe the blue on the S could be highlighted with some very subtle metallic or grey? Would like to see the S in the same 3D look but maybe more blocked style since rebar is usually in a grid fashion and secured or welded at overlaps. The more definition, grids on rebar and shadowing help make our customers know it's rebar. Also, what do you think about the letters in New and teel rising and falling as they approach the dominant S?
I'm good, some trees down but power still on. Some downtown got it bad.
#40 is shaping up nicely I think. Will work on the pattern a bit to really get the perspective in the pattern going a bit better. The X pattern is more difficult and gets too complicated when reduced so I went with the rope style. Will add some sheen on the bar so its got a 'fresh cut' feel.
Not sure I understand about the blocked. Do you mean a framework somthing like #16?
regarding the perspective, the S is left to right so I think that I will try the rest of the type coming toward you in the same perspetive. So the entire logo is comming forward from left to right.
Let's leave of the word International going forward.
I think the details to the rebar you reference about #40, will help give it more realism. Maybe for the colors, the blue can be two tone in the word " New" i.e. from dark blue to royal blue in order to provide depth. same as red..darker to light. The rebar S could even have some tons of blue/grey. Typically newly made rebar has a blueish , grey tone. Would like to see what you come up with in terms of color fading in and out and the blue being a more darker dominant tone.
as for blocked..not like 16..but more like a more right angled "S". However, the curved S is really growing on me.
one more suggestion..what if the tail of the "S" wrapped under the word New and the N in New was made of rebar just like the S? In essecence they are connected and both made of rebar
yeah. rebar is much cooler. what would it look like as the shape of the S in #40. also maybe with the word Steel in a two ton of the blue you have fading into a darker blue
would like to see some variations in the font. The N needs to be stronger since New is farther away. Would like to see Steel in a little darker shade of blue. Let's see is there is a way to make a sparkle of shiny coating on the rebar.
question on the contest. We really love your design. The other decision maker is higher up than me but it's just the two of us. He's given me the authority but would like to know if we were to choose your design...can we still make adjustments and subtle tweeks before finalizing the deal? He wanted to see if the logo could turn just slightly more on a plane to the viewer? Or if that doesn't work, maybe the letters and font so that it's more 3d . So that when a new prospect or vendor sees the name, there is no doubt he/she can read "New Steel" as our name.
Absolutely we can make tweaks. The angle is extreme for dramatic effect but an at small sizes the 'NEW' gets small.
I can start with the straight on view and we can probably nail it in a couple of versions.
Right now only the first ranked can upload revisions. You don't have to end it yet there are still 2 day left in Judging mode. Let me take a shot and show you a less extreme angle.
On the 3D type. I don't want to do that because it will take away from the focal point if the rebar and diminish its impact but we can still gloss it up. It may also make the type cumbersome to read.
10-4. I think he meant gloss it up more than 3D so you are on the same page. would like to see that cut piece of rebar you made in #75 make it into the design. that's pretty awesome work on that detail.
#79 and #80 have the type straight on (no perspective)
#81 and #82 have perspective but not as extreme as the earlier versions.
Honestly I am liking the straight on versions much more. The extra perspective on the type now seems like overkill and not really necessary. The rebar is so strong and dynamic it can handle all the visual weight.
i an answer today to pick you as winner; however, a question. Can we still adjust and tweak a few things once we select a # that is close to what we really like? If so, how long do we have to do that?
Looks good, the only tweek would be if he can make the letters embosed whereas they have a slight 3 dimensional appearance with very slight shadowing. Otherwise, it looks great.
one more request that I missed in his email. He makes a good point about both ends of the rebar. The derformations or raised marks should be consistently spaced all the way to the end until the cuts. So, could you either shorten the length of the space between the cut and the last deformation on both ends OR maybe include a new deformation equally spaced before the cuts on either side. does that make sense?
