New HorizonsLogo Design Contest

None of the rejected logos provide the level of luxury, professionalism, or creativity that our company provides. They are too whimsy and focus too much on the name New Horizons. We need to be represented as a high end, professional group that provides innovative solutions to high tech problems. We work with architects and designers primarily, so need to appeal to that market.

Again, the New Horizons name was inherited from another business. The name is much less relevant than the image.

I kind of like the layout of the New Horizons in #1 and 2. Not sure about the red in the logo, maybe a bit too flashy for us. Our business approach is based more on consultation than "sales" tactics. We are not high pressure sales people. We are unique in our ability to provide complex solutions to lighting and building control and automation tasks.

We are starting to see a more clean, modern luxury look. The top 3 designs are playful, fun, and creative yet still showing a professional image. Pretty sure that none of these are 100% what we are looking for, but the design is getting closer.

We are still looking for something more slick and architectural/designer in nature. The name New Horizons is not representative of anything we do, but we are kind of stuck with it. I would like to see more of an emphasis on NH Lighting and Controls, with New Horizons downplayed..

#71 is the leader in the simple, clean NH Lighting and Controls approach while still including New Horizons in the design. I also value the creative approaches demonstrated in #70, 57, 62, and 58 and 50. I find each of these innovative and appealing. #58 looks a bit like a compact fluorescent bulb whereas we specialize more in LED.

The challenge is that we are a broad based marketing company selling everything from luxury home automation to LED lighting, fiber optic lighting, motorized window coverings, and other general purpose lighting. We may even end up in Audio Video at some point.

hi CH... consider with white backgound...

Just because the black background seems favored does not mean that it will work for our application. Remember that we still have to fax a lot of our documents...sounds old school for a high tech company, but many of our customers are electricians that may not have email at a construction site.

The black makes the images stand out, but the logo also must look good in black/white.

How are you doing ? hope you are doing great. As this contest is about to come to an end, and you will be chosing the best new logo for your company, i just wanted to have your attention to some important point that you might be aware of or might not. I hope i am not miss understood by pointing out this to you and that you understand.

When the contest ends and you have made your mind and desicion about the winner logo, the winner gets the 1st place, but the 2nd and 3rd place and going on forward, 4th, 5th, 6th , etc , each one or slot should be filled with a seperate designer and different concept you found second best, third best to follow etc.

This helps towards us designers ranking and also it is a way from you to show your appreciation to the hard effort and trails put from the beginning by one designer or appreciating a nice design concept put earlier by a designer that led to developing on right direction for others and you getting the best you could at the end.

It feels frasturating for other designers and pointless of giving all the top rankings for same winner designer, while those were just a small variations of the winning design and therefore the other places 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc are not filled with different designs from a different designer.

So i hope you understood my point i was just trying to point out to you here and all the best of luck in chosing your winner logo, there are really good ones out there.

please take a moment to rank your contest in fair and just manner..it will go along way when you decide to start another....simply because more designers will participate if they know a contest will be judged fairly.

When submitting entries, please respect yourselves as designers and do not submit "loose reinterpretations" of existing entries. Simply because a design is at the top of my ranking does not mean that I want 10 different designers submitting their versions of the high ranked design. The purpose here is to get original designs and choose from a large group of creative designers. Be original and submit a NEW idea, not a copy of someone else's design.

you are a bit lost mblocko...

Why do logos end up marked "withdrawn" when sometimes I have not even seen them? I had a design that was ranked 2nd and was withdrawn. What does that mean?

Please be sure all logos look good on a white background. Colorful is good, but it must be able to work on white, not just black background
