#1 - The logo is a good start but I'd prefer that "NH" be removed from the text at the top so that it just says "Landlocked". Also, the pink stripe on the fish identifies it as a rainbow trout so that needs to be removed and the tail of the fish should be more deeply forked. Lastly, I'd like to see a little sharper detail for the head of the fish and the background to be just blue instead of the two-tone color. I like the green image of NH and where the Department's logo has been placed.
Do you have a EPS version of the Dept Logo for the designers to use (could you attach it to the brief)? Thanks for the feedback - lets get you some LOGOS! Mike
#1 - I talked with one of the Department's graphic designers and there is an EPS file of the Department's logo that I can upload but I do not know how to do that for this contest. However, the in-house designer expressed concern for including the Department's color logo within the Salmon Anglers' Pledge logo from the stanpoint of reproducing it at a small size. Essentially the Department's logo would be so small it would be indistinguishable. So, it appears that it might be best not to include the Department's logo in the final design of the Landlocked Salmon Anglers' Pledge logo.
#2 - I prefer that "NH" not appear in the logo wording, just "Landlocked Salmon Anglers' Pledge." I also think that the image of the fish: should fit within the inner border circle; not have its mouth as open as it is; and, the shape of its tail needs to be more forked than squared. At this point the fish image in logo #1 is closer to what I'm looking for- minus the pink stripe. I would also like to see the image of the fly deleted from logo #2. By shrinking the size of the fish image and eliminating the fly image the image of NH will be more prominent in the logo, which I like. I also like the blue background in logo #1 better than the shade of blue in logo #2
Comments from Pam and Vic like entry #2 best -- Like: color scheme, fly, state silouhette, drop shadow on fish Recommended changes: use same fish as #3 (facing left), less decorataive serif font, no outline on font, try making inner circle (behind state) white. Once design is finalized, please create a B&W version.
One further comment to add to the ones made by Pam and Vic for on #3 is to have the fly image be a tandem streamer fly rather than a single hook fly. Tandem streamer flies are traditionally used to fish for landlocked salmon because they imitate its primary forage, which is smelt. An example of a classic tandem streamer fly for landlocked salmon is the grey ghost.
#13 - stretch the fish so the head and tail extends beyond the outside border of the oval (similar to #2) and text on the top needs to have more spacing between the letters.
