Hi! Here are some hints for getting the most out of your contest as it progresses:

~~ Rank designs daily -- this will encourage participation.
~~ Rank and re-rank a variety of designs to get a variety of new entries.
~~ Ranking gets your contest noticed! Unless your contest is private, 1st place entries are posted to the portfolio page: https://logotournament.com/portfolio
~~ Ranking designs daily will also keep your contest from getting cluttered.
~~ The more feedback you provide, the better results you are going to see.
~~ Designers are not offended by "Not Interested"
~~ Over-use of "Not Interested" discourages participation.
~~ Ranking is a non-monetary means of showing appreciation for designers hard work.
~~ Designers earn points for designs ranked in the top 10. We like to earn points.

~~ NOTE: While in JUDGING mode, the designer ranked in 1st can still submit revisions.

More detailed information on how to get the most out of your contest can be found here:

#1 - We like the emblem approach for the 'N' but we're not sure it needs the apostrophe before it. It's the treatment of the 'N' that caused us to enter the contest in the first place. Also, we're not 100% tied to having the tagline, i.e., "putting buyers & sellers together" integrated into the design, especially if it becomes unreadable because of size - as in this case.

#2 - We like the size of the tagline in this design and evaluating the introduction of the checkered effect. However, because of the curve in this particular checkered effect, it almost takes on the look of a zipper.

#3 - The tagline, i.e., "putting buyers & sellers together" is too small in this design - and we're not 'wed' to having it integrated so tightly if it destroys the overall look of the logo. Still considering the use of the checkered flag. In this design, they look like a road through the logo, with the 'N' as the "stop" or "action" before continuing on. Good thought. The small print on the tagline detracts, however, because it looks like a red line from a distance. We don't think it will look correct on a billboard image. If you look at the banner on our website (www.NEParkNSell.com), that's approximately what a billboard would look like. So the integrated tagline wouldn't even show up as part of the logo. We also don't want to emphasize the "New England" part, which is properly handled in #1-#4.

#4 - Good treatment of the checkered road being integrated into the logo, but the tagline is too small (and perhaps not necessary). Removing the tagline kills the symmetry, so don't know what to suggest. Again, not sure that when you are using an emblem for the 'N' that it requires the apostrophe.

#9 - Very interesting to think about 'sell' being a "for sale" tag. Not sure that the color should have been green, but understand the meaning that it's to represent cash. Perhaps to give the impression of a 'deal' or 'sale,' it might have been better to do it as a yellow or red tag. Hmmm...

Doing some thinking based on the designs. The universal description of a vehicle is best captured by a hubcap and tire. If it's in the center, then the "N" would be enclosed - without the apostrophe. If used as two anchors, then it could form a car. Not sure what that will look like, but was doing some noodling. We definitely prefer SIMPLE, as the design has to be used on banner flags and billboards. Too much complexity will take away from it.

Maybe this will help:

When I originally designed our logo on our site - www.NEParkNSell.com, I wanted to de-emphasize the "N" and focus on the word "Park" and the word "Sell." The "New England" part became a "necessary evil" only as a way of differentiating us from others in the business out in Southern California. It shouldn't get in the way of the design. "Park" and "Sell" were the two action words that completely explains what we do, and we didn't want anything done with the logo that would detract from that. Also, I originally used the "$" for the "S" and didn't like it. I thought it gave the logo a "dollar" store image - at least when I used the "impact" type style. So instead, I went to the italicized "S" to make "sell" seem more of the actionable part of the logo as well as the desired result. I went with the simplest design I could come up with so that the person didn't have to "untangle" and "interpret" the logo. The treatment of the "N" is perhaps the only thing that I was uncomfortable with and what I thought needed to be worked on. That's the reason for the contest. So far, I haven't seen anything that would move me from the original design, but I know that you guys are the experts and have much better design skills. The last entry (#11) was very interesting, but it highlights the "N" too much and shows so much tire, that it makes us look like a tire shop. The colors black and red are my personal favorites, as they will "pop" the best from a billboard standpoint.

Not sure if this information is helpful or not, but I do understand the time all of you are putting in on this, and want it to be as productive as possible.
