I think this "full board" version has potential. Replacing the two checker-dots with small anchors might be an idea?

The checker dots make this version a little too "busy."

I think this has potential. There are some existing logos out there that employ this strategy, but it's a natural one, and your take on it gets the points aimed in the right direction, and I like the rounded point style. It might be interesting to play a little bit with proportions to seee whether the overall shape could be a little closer to square proportions -- one likely use for our logo will be to print it on one surface of a 1.5" doubling cube.
