Then, under the graphic with just the "NBCT" letters center NEW BERN CIVIC THEATRE under the Square. This is similar to an earlier design, but there are several overall changes we've made since then. Maybe this be the combination that wins.
Can you put two white color blocks down the sides of what was currenlty the text block that creates an extension of the facade? the in the center space put NBCT in white over the smaller black space in center.
This one has moved to a strong first place in the survey vote. I would love to see it in a light gold on a black background just to see how this looks on a dark background. Thank you.
I did a 4th survey with the board and they like #150 best, but asked if the lower part of the black color block on the sides of "THEATRE" could be angled on each side so it makes a forced perspective in the negative white space. Once this edit is made I'd love to see two versions; one as is and one with whole thing fully reversed on an all black background. Thank you.
Ooops, okay, so I've been asked for one more minor alteration before voting. Can we see this one with the slight curve at top as it is in #138? Promise, last change request.
Same feedback as for #148 here... I'm seeing a female neck, shoulders and upper breasts in tight corset. Can we try the open arch graphic set into this version. Please open the white under THEATRE so it bleeds into the negative white space inside tool line.
Have to admit with the "filled in" arches version of this graphic at first glance appears to be a woman's shoulders and breasts pushed up in a very low cut corset. Not quite the image we're seeking. I do like the tool line following the facade shape. What happens if the previous version of graphic with arches open in negative space is put in this version?
May I see this one with the more solid version of the graphic like in # 143 and what happens if THEATRE reverses like the NEW BERN in a while color block with black text? This way it seems to emphasize the open curtain effect. Thank you. Also, if you just want to throw in a completely new logo idea that appeals to you please feel free to offer it up. Thank you so much for your time on this. I apologize for being such difficult clients.
What if the graphic becomes more of a solid shape with only the fine detail of the arches and scroll at top of shape seen in reverse? And, can the CIVIC be turned to black without the color block reverse effect?
Is it possible to see what this looks like with the graphic dropped in the text and NEW BERN stacked as shown in mark up? Then flip the THEATRE right side up? As before, if the whole thing is contained in a perfect square shape this is what my board is asking for. Thank you
Hello. My board seems to like the logo with the facade graphic included, but they like the simple look of #135 so I'm wondering if we can blend them as I've suggested in the mark up. Can the white be extended under the arches so it creates a reverse void that "NEW BERN" can fit into as black text and then they would like to have "THEATRE" turned right side up. I'd also like to square the top again and stretch the logo so it is perfectly square in dimension, maybe adding the tool line around the whole thing like #135.
This is looking good. To see what this might look like as an overlay on any background helps. This is strong contender. I'd still love to see if you're able to try to figure out if the text only version of a logo idea works as I indicated in my revised brief. I'm referring to the Hard Rain logo.
May I see this with the graphic and letters in white against the black color block and a also a version with graphic and letters in gold against the black color block?
Moving in good direction with this one. Would love to see this with the facade graphic shrunk smaller so the black color block is almost a square in size. And can facade be gold?
What happens if the line under the scroll a top of facade is thinner, more like the lines that accent the arches? What if we fill in the cross bars at bottom of arches and must let the black color block blend up into the arches? And lastly, in the mark up I've filled in an area below that can either be more black or maybe grey tone or the gold color and it is possible to stack the text so it reverses to white within the color block?
NEW BERN
CIVIC THEATRE
Okay... so agreeing on something by committee is tough. I've been asked to see what it would look like with it just in red and black. Can the NBCT be removed and text be stacked and centered in the color block below graphic:
NEW BERN
CIVIC THEATRE
and can the detail in the top of the facade be less ziz-zag and more verticle?
I shared the logo designs with my Board of Directors last night and this version seems to be gaining ground as a possible winner. They like the #110 graphic with the squared bottom and the "roof line" staying inside the color block, but liked the curved shape above the graphic more like #104. They also liked the red color (or a grey scale if the logo was in black and white), that emphasizes the stage curtain effect. They like cleaner font you chose for #110.
This logo is really among my personal favorites. It's clean and graphic. I'm curious what happens if it's simplified even more by filling in the little window panes under the arches. And, I really like the more contemporary font of the New Bern... is it possible to experiment with changing out the Times New Roman look of the NBCT to letters in a more modern or graphic font? I may hate it, but I'm very curious to see how this impacts the look. Thank you so far. I know I've asked for lots of tweaks and changes.
Hi...
Thanks again for your feedback!
Here are the changes you requested,.. #102 , #103 , #104
I deliberately resized the NBCT according to the dimensions of the black blocks on the left and right. I think #104 is the finisher of the whole thing. But if you feel something is missing, please let me know.
Welcome for any suggestion or comment.
Thank You...

Yes, yes. These last few are looking great. Loved #101 with the more curtain framing a stage effect. Wondering what it looks like if the outline over roof is removed and the truer shape of the facade remains with the slightly curved color block is added to #99. New text is perfect to my eye.
This graphic is strong. It is bold and modern but nods to the history of our 100 year old building. I like the arches with this simplified detail. One of my Board members thought the original one looked like owl eyes... and I had to agree, so this works better. the vote on this is Tuesday at our Board of Directors meeting. I would love to see this exact graphic in different color combos (white against black or gold color block, etc., just for comparison). And is it possible to have the NEW BERN CIVIC THEATRE be a bit larger but stay the same width under the graphic?
I promise this the last version of this I'll ask for as I know I'm infringing on your time at this point. You'll see on #87 I'm curious what will happen if we create that shape I've roughed in around the NBCT and graphic. It sort of makes a stage and proscenium arch effect. squiggly lines above the graphic are a thought about putting: Dramatically Different back the design. I'd also love to see what happens if the new shape block goes to a black shape fill and the NBCT and Dramatically Different reverses to white or grey tone with the graphic in gold.
I made changes to the bottom bar of the graphic, making it look like a door, and changed the bar below the NBCT to the full text.
What do you think?
If there any options and suggest, please let me know.
I'm glad to do for you,...Thanks
So ironic that you did this version because I was going to ask if you could do this exact thing with the break in the color bar across the bottom. Can I see one more tweaked version? what happens if the color bar under "NBCT" goes gold and the bar under the graphic goes the color of the NBCT? And do you have access to a font that has even thinner vertical elements so the letters are more of a graphic element? I know I'm asking a lot, but it feels like you 'get' what I'm wanting and we're very, very close to what I was hoping for from logotournament.
Here are the changes you requested in several options...#73,#74,#75,#76,#77,#78..
If there s any other options you would like to see, please let me know. Thanks Again!
Do you have a feeling about this? I'm wondering what happens if we move the NEW BERN CIVIC THEATRE off the overlap of of NBCT and place it under the NBCT and graphic in a text block of some sort or color scheme that works with this. What I'm liking is that this seems to work on light backgrounds or against black. so close. Curious to see if this idea works.
Agus - We're getting close to something I think my board of directors will like. I know I seem to keep wavering between designs, but there's a lot to consider. Is it possible to take this general idea of #40 and trade out for the gold building graphic as in #51 and trade out "Dramatically Different" with New Bern Civic Theatre all in the same scale as #40? I also would love to see what it looks like in reverse with a black block background and text reversed to white or light gray scale just to see if it pops in reverse? Yours is my favorite of the building graphics offered in the submissions.
So far I like the direction of your style very much and we're getting so close to what I was hoping for. I like this graphic of the theatre and how the NBCT fits under it. What I'd like to see is what happens if the graphic and the NBCT are in the gold color and can NEW BERN CIVIC THEATRE be over the lettering as you did in other submissions but larger font so the text extends beyond as shown in the squiggled mark up? Thank you.

I love the graphic in this logo. Curious to see if it's possible to have NEW BERN CIVIC THEATRE in red type cutting across the large NBCT as I've indicated with the squiggly line? And can we try it with the Dramatically Different in black or a grey tone?
