Entry 75 - There is an absolutely powerful and quiet beauty to this design. I'm assuming we're looking at the swirling of wine in large bottomed glass... a red wine of some sort in a gorgeously elegant glass? The movement seems to capture the beauty of the winds in the area coming from the San Francisco Bay. It captures the movement of the water in the local rivers and in the Bay. It also has a musica quality to it that is very nice.

For those amongst who are more 'literal', I think defining the swirling shape in a more defined wine glass frame might make it more identifiable. However, part of its power is the lack of obviousness. This is the most globally iconic graphic we've seen so far.

Your Entry 76 is fine. The font is strong, simple and elegant. The blocked out 'o' in Sonoma isn't necessary... It could be as a stand alone that it takes the same sensibility of swirling wine in a glass... Not sure.

Great job! Would love to see some more of what you can offer.

Thank you.

Hi Vuelta. Ok! We're excited to start speaking with you on this level. First and foremost, congratulations on taking the Number 1 spot! Your work is exactly what we had hoped to find. As we look to announce the winner of this competition we're hopeful that the next couple days will find us securing the exact sense and vibe that we're looking for.

While we placed # 136 as the lead position. The actual desire is to find an in between logo that lives between # 136 and # 75. # 75 many in our group felt was too abstract... and # 136 has no become a little too obvious. I'm not sure where the balance or correction rests, but its somewhere in the middle.

Another comment that has come up in our group is the stand alone quality of just the wine swirl. How will it transfer to merchandise - hats, tshirts, wine glasses, etc... Does it somehow need to become more weighted and blocked so the image can transfer? We don't know, but there's concern that if we use only the swirl that it simply wouldn't read - not just as a logo, but at all... not sure what the correction for that is.

We have not landed on any colors for this logo of for the Festival. The Sponsor Deck we have created has a lot of bold red used throughout its 20 pages. Perhaps red is the color. Again, not wanting a cliche - merlot, rose, etc... but a red that makes it clear this is about wine... and food, but isn't literal about the color of wine. This will be the next step.

Further steps would require that we are able to review a variety of different ways that the logo can be used -- just text, just logo, just black and white, just color... the logo must have several opportunities and incarnations to be applied throughout a wide variety of uses.

What else can we share with you to help you on these next steps?

Thank you so much! Terrific work! And we're honored to go this next level with you and your artistic skills.

We really like 136 and 156. However there is feedback that they are 'too wide' and they don’t look like wine swirling in a glass anymore. The other designs look more like wine in a glass. Can you tighten up 136 or 156 so it looks more like wine in a glass? We like the boxed versions and think we need designs on both.

We'd like to declare you the winner and award you the prize. Please work on 136 and 156 for our approval, with and without the box. Once we have approval on these two designs we’ll designate you as the winner.

Thanks so much!

I'm really liking 161 and 162! 163 and 164 present the image of a wine glass much stronger, but I'm not so keen on the swirls inside the glass. Too bold. I like the softness of the swirling in 161 and 162. Can you elongate the lines of the glass to create glass look shown in 163 and 164?

We want to declare you the winner and close the contest to receive the files. Let's do some final work and get this done today!

How do we reach you outside of the contest to continue working with you on other Festival design projects?
