Hi Vuelta. Ok! We're excited to start speaking with you on this level. First and foremost, congratulations on taking the Number 1 spot! Your work is exactly what we had hoped to find. As we look to announce the winner of this competition we're hopeful that the next couple days will find us securing the exact sense and vibe that we're looking for.
While we placed # 136 as the lead position. The actual desire is to find an in between logo that lives between # 136 and # 75. # 75 many in our group felt was too abstract... and # 136 has no become a little too obvious. I'm not sure where the balance or correction rests, but its somewhere in the middle.
Another comment that has come up in our group is the stand alone quality of just the wine swirl. How will it transfer to merchandise - hats, tshirts, wine glasses, etc... Does it somehow need to become more weighted and blocked so the image can transfer? We don't know, but there's concern that if we use only the swirl that it simply wouldn't read - not just as a logo, but at all... not sure what the correction for that is.
We have not landed on any colors for this logo of for the Festival. The Sponsor Deck we have created has a lot of bold red used throughout its 20 pages. Perhaps red is the color. Again, not wanting a cliche - merlot, rose, etc... but a red that makes it clear this is about wine... and food, but isn't literal about the color of wine. This will be the next step.
Further steps would require that we are able to review a variety of different ways that the logo can be used -- just text, just logo, just black and white, just color... the logo must have several opportunities and incarnations to be applied throughout a wide variety of uses.
What else can we share with you to help you on these next steps?
Thank you so much! Terrific work! And we're honored to go this next level with you and your artistic skills.
