Thanks very much for your entry - we appreciate your time and effort.
We really liked the cleanliness of your logo, as well as the font, as well as the colors (they were subtle, not overbearing, and didn't overdifferentiate between the My and the Scorecard). The shadow might be cool for web use, but we'd probably drop it for paper use. The pencils and the golf ball are intriguing, but we're not sure pencils will be the icon we want to go with (even though we do appreciate your effort to put something 'classic' in there) - the site is less about the physical scorecard and more about tracking scores, calculating your handicap, improving performance, and playing with friends.
We're leaving comments for everyone. If you can't see the others but want to, let us know and we'll post them here.
We showed your design to some friends. One suggestion was the instead of crossed pencils you should have crossed golf clubs. Another was to have the ball and pencils/clubs as a watermark behind the logo. Not sure how it would look, but we thought it might be inspirational.
The pencils have been replaced with clubs, This logo works better many mediums and is simplier than having the the ball and clubs watermarked. But I can still show you that version if needed. cheers Julian.
Thanks for your entry - a couple thoughts for you. Is it possible to remove the reflection for the next iteration and to potentially make it look less washed out (not sure if that is because of the size of the logo or something else).
While we do like the golf clubs better than the pencils, we're not sure how we feel about having it breaking up the name. We'd love to see a quick quick iterations: A) moving the ball and clubs, or some other version of the logo to left of the name, in the same proportions as #8, B) Doing (A) above, but replacing the ball and clubs with a figure (stylized or not), C) Having the (B) figure hit a ball that looks something like #19. If you have a different idea that goes in that direction, we'd love to see it as well. Thanks for all you great work, -Jack
Hi - we do like #25. We think it's clean, simple, and golf related. The font is nice as well. The ball looks a bit like a faberge egg rather than a golf ball. Is it possible to try another version with more of a golf ball? We like the fact that you took out the gradient - is it possible to make the font a bit heavier so that the name stands out? We're just worried that it looks a bit meek? A bit more like on 26 perhaps?
For #26 we like the idea, actually with the icon in the middle best (which surprised us). However, it is a bit hard to tell it's a stylized golfer. Is there some way to make it look a more like one? Perhaps replace the head with a simple dot rather than something complex?
As a reference in terms of font, our favorite weight is in #19 - if we have to shrink down our logo a bit (e.g. a business card) we want to make sure it's not washed out. Not that you have to make #25 that heavy, but heavier is appealing to us. Thanks!
I my opinion #25 is the best of that design, the solid blue is more striking and still looks like a golfball, with logos I believe a little artistic licence is good a thing. I've asked others and there is no doubt that its a golfball and that it looks quite dynamic. 38, 39 and 40 have the same bold font there's just more room to make 40 bit larger within the window.
Julian - #40 is great. Not much to do to it. Is there a variation wher the clubhead on the S is slightly bigger? Jus to see how that looks like
As well, is there a version of #25 with the font from #38/39, just so we can see? We're going to run this buy some folks and get feedback for us. Very nice, though.
Julian - One more quick thought. Could you propose a version of #40 where the font is slightly taller? The font face is nice, but the MyScorecard text is a bit dwarfed by the stylized golfer image. Thanks!
Hi again Jack and Tom, Here are 3 variations, club head bigger, font taller and the thicker font on 25. In my opinion the font looks better the way it is the golfer 'S' needs to be taller to make it fit more comfortably between the My and scorecard. If you want I can make the font even bolder if need be.
This icon will look quite smart on a business card too. If you do choose my logo I would love to design the business card too, as business cards are one of my favourite things to design, besides logos.
Julian - you're right on the height of the font. I think #62 is better than #40, though they are awful close. You are also right on #64, particularly if we need to go to black and white. We'd love to see a variation of bolder font, just to see what it looks like. Thanks! jack
Hi again Jack and Tom, Here is the logo with the bolder font as requested. Also remember viewing all logos on this site are at the smallest you will probably ever view them.
