Hello,

I love the idea of giving life to something old and transforming it to something modern.

My #16, #17 logo concepts are a collage of an abstract vintage camera and a frame that create a minimal robot.
They're not classic look logos but they're unique as your business!

I'll be happy to know your thoughts.

Thanks,
Pink

This is my favorite logo so far. Thank you for putting so much thought into what you were creating for me and for what my business does.

Here's my issue...I think there has to be some way to make it slightly more obvious that we've got a camera and a frame here, without taking away from the simplicity of your adorable little guy. What if his body was more horizontally oriented and had a little button on the top and another circle inside them...this would probably mean the head should be vertically oriented...what if you created a box inside the box, that would give the frame look a tiny bit more depth. OR you could just switch and make the camera his head (he'd be a bit of a cyclops...but maybe it would work). One other suggestion (and honestly, I can't visualize very well, so maybe these are all horrible ideas) would be to use different colors to showcase the different devices
I also wonder if the arms and legs could be used as well...I think the legs were functioning as a tripod, and I think that's a great detail. My only real criticism is the arms...I don't really like them as they now. They don't fit in with the straight lines of the rest of the icon.

I'm so happy about this little character...there's some work to be done with color and font, but that can all wait fit now??

Thank you so much for appreciating my concept!

Yes, you're absolutely right about the tripod, that's what I was trying to portray along with the vintage camera.
The reason I gave an angle to the robot's head was to give the sense of 'broken' but I'll fix it according to your suggestions.

You're also right about the hands I'll make them straight.
Very shortly I'll submit my new revised drafts.

Thanks!

No, I like the angle to the robots head! Keep that!

Lets keep pursuing that concept...I am definitely looking for more than just letters, although #45 is beautiful, other than the smaller sized "my". That part of the name is important!

#55, #56

I modified robot's body and face. In place of arms I placed parts of a broken frame.
Do you like it that way?

#57 is a new variation with more gothic-vintage letters.
I added the third leg in tripod and applied a rusted like pattern on camera to give the sense of old fashioned.

Thanks

Ok... Whew, this stuff is hard. I'm sorry to be so complicated. You are still my front runner, for sure. I LOVE the double circle in the camera, and the horizontal orientation. I think it makes it immediately recognizable as a camera.

I'm wondering

1. If you were right, and the simplicity of the head looked better before.
2. If I was right, and the frame look would be better if the head were vertical, but still "broken"
3. If the legs should match the arms. Either they should both be simple lines OR they should both be parts of the broken frame (which means we lose the tripod look)
4. If you're ready to kill me yet.
5. If it's ok to deal with color and font and rank in the next round.
6. If you will look at the logo on my photography site, and tell me what you think about going back to a simpler line drawing and put him inside a frame OR keep this new look and encase it in a simple box/line frame.

You are rocking this! I'd rank you first second and third place if I could!

Logo Designer
1. Yep!
2. I'll make this vertical version
3. In my opinion we must not loose this tripod detail, even if robot hasn't got arms it's still recognizable in a glance.
4. I hate violence
5. OK
6. What's your photography site??

Your great ;)

#59, #60

In both I made head in vertical position.
In #59 I added books in place of arms (in your brief you mentioned that you're having old books, albums, as well), they look like tiny wings!

I used only black color because I wanted you to see the design, color can be added in second phase, as you mentioned.

Thanks,
Pink

Hello,

Thanks for sending me the site :)
I can make some variations with this subtle frame and a more linear font so you can compare.
Just tell me which robot character you like the best.

Logo Designer
Hello,

#95 is a version with a thin frame and letters similar to the one you're having at your website.
I placed the robot that you prefer.

Your feedback is always welcome!

Thanks

Another interesting concept with a 'b' made from two broken frames.
A logo design with geometrical and modern style.

Hey.... I was working on a ridiculously long and detailed response to you last night (all good stuff, I promise) and I dozed off and my cat walked over my computer screen and deleted everything! So just know that I am keeping you in my top 5 and i will give you more feedback after the contest ends! I love the robots, and I think with some combining of various different elements we will have the perfect one!

You are doing great...feel free to hold off on posting any additional logos at this point... I promise you have a spot in my top 5! :)

Hello,

So now that we're on top 5 phase.
If you have any ideas of how to improve my logo please tell me.

From the very start my concern was to create not just a robot but a robot
that somehow was related to your vintage objects...

Thanks

Hey Amber, I haven't heard from you for a while.
Means that you don't have any feedback for me?

I just lost the worlds longest comment AGAIN!!! I'm having some very bad luck.

Basically what I am wanting is to see some variations of the current robots... I'd love to see what frame legs look like and I'd love to see what stick arms look like... and I'd love to see your original design with stick arms and legs....

I was wondering the frame head ones would look like with a thinner body and legs (the line itself), and I was wondering what the one with the vertical head would look like with arms... or as a frame...

And I'm definitely ruling out the third leg/tripod look... it looks a bit....phallic. Even my 8 year old noticed it.

And I would like to see the thin line lens from #60 (i think? the vertical head one?) on one of the horizontal head ones...

I think I definitely like script, and I don't *think* we need the box...
I'd like to see both a darker and a lighter purple on one, just because of some additional work I may ask you to do once we're done, if you win.

And finally... I am curious (I may hate it, but what the heck...might as well try!) but what would a heart shaped lens look like??

Thank you SOOOO much and I am so sorry for the lack of communication. My other two emails were much more organized!!

Amber, so nice to hear from you :D
I'll start making the variations you want asap.

Thank you!!!

* By the way I also have two kids and a cat, Coco (but he's too lazy to climb the stairs up to my studio where I have my Mac!)

Do you like any of these?

Thank you!

AHHHHHHHH.... so many options!!!!

Give me some of these bodies with framed out legs and arms? You hated the heart idea?

I am going to make a general request on the main page... but I'd love to see a camera-bot out of someone, and I'd love to see hearts incorporated... Just an FYI....

Ooops, sorry about the heart idea, I missed it!
I'll submit new drafts in a sec.

I don't want to lose the tripod look on the legs that are not "frames"... does that make sense? I feel like I am doing a terrible job of explaining myself, and it is 4:00am! :)

Oh, it's that late!
An idea is to give an angle to the tripod in order not to look so 'pointy'.
I'll give it a try and you decide.

Thank you so much :)
Honestly I love this tiny robot, it looks so innocent and cute!

I have no idea what to do here, honestly...

Am I getting sucked into the cute train because he's so cute with that dang heart, but in reality I lose the whole camera thing?

And I KNOW I will regret using 3 colors in a logo because if I ever go to letterpress it will cost me a billion dollars. So... what do they look like filled in with all one color... either dark or light? (I am going to say that 2 other very similar projects... changing the words and the colors and the mark only slightly...is something that i want to ask the winning designer about commissioning him for... and one of the main colors for one of those is purple. Not dark or light or anything...just medium purple.) We can figure out the perfect pantone color and the perfect font after the winner is selected...I just need to see dark vs ligh to see if either one works. Also was curious about making the word beautifully a different font than the other two...

I would love to see arms and legs like #55 on one of these guys...

Is there anything that we should/could do that would make him look more broken?

I've officially decided to stay up til I take the kids to school in another couple hours...

Logo Designer
Yes I understand what you're saying about printing cost, it's a big issue.
I think that with two Pantone colors logo will look great, and you can also use a raster of this Pantone for lighter shades (50% of purple Pantone for example).
I'm willing to help you find the right color combination.

In the meanwhile I made two new logos #120, #121, check if you like them, and I'll try to place #55 arms and legs on my #112 logo.

Thanks!

I just saw that you're already doing beautifully in a different color... that's probably better than font, anyway.

and just FYI... this is SOOOO out of the box for me (which is good. and is what I needed to do. but is hard.) i've always gone with black and gray...or maybe a bit of blue(grey) and very simple shapes...no script...no cute little mascots...sigh. this new project is SO good for me.

And I love the new heart guy....you definitely get the camera look back in the center (although I prefer the old simpler circle in circle)...but I'm not quite sure he's the right look... as much as I like him... I think he might not be the right one.

Just a thought... of changing colors to 100%magenta and shades of black, they suit well.
I've changed text and I made 'broken' a bit playful, do you like it that way?

Logo Designer
... and #123 in same style with different arms-legs.

That magenta may really work for the other thing I am thinking about...but it's too pink for me...and I've already got a ton of turquoise (i hate spelling that word) in my display materials... i think it is a necessity. Just keep working with the 3 colors (but with just 2 colors as often as possible) we've been working with for now, so as not to waste time on that :)

I think the new font idea is interesting... will keep thinking about that. One issue I have with it is that it seems a little crowded.

What if we try the framed arms and legs but give them a broken look?

OR

what about a broken heart...that has little bandaids or something to mend it...

heck what do I know, I'm no designer... I'm just a photographer in over her head with vintage cameras and frames and succulents and spray paint...who's avoiding things like note cards and fine art prints and all the stuff that I was originally gonna do...

Haha, no that's OK, I wonder how you're standing to be wake up and have the courage to reply on messages at this time!
So I'll stay with turquoise and purple combo and try to think about how to portray broken.

Two attempts to portray 'broken', do you like any?

Both of those are adorable....but the further and further we go with this, the more we move into a toy shop logo look. This is something i'm just realizing as I'm looking down at my robot ring (which you can see on instagram if you happen to do that... i have a couple of hashtags that might tell you a bit about me and would give you insight into why the robots even matter) anyway... looking at my robot ring and remembering that it cost us $2.99 and I re-order them from some online Halloween store and I'm pretty sure they are for teenagers/pre-teens.

Target market is a little older than that... so maybe I've let us go too far. (But... if I am allowed, I may want to buy some of these from you to use as stamps and such) So let's back up to 109, 110, 112 (this is killing me... i want those last ones and I want them badly). I realize the entire robot thing is a bit childish (but I'm just a big kid and this is MY beautifully broken:) so I get to do what I wanna do), so I do think a really pretty script is going to be the way to go... again, something we can dial in later on. What you had initially is probably pretty darn close. The designers initial thoughts always win...but it takes going too far for me to realize it.

Can you try the legs just like the arms for me please? Can we basically combine 108 and 55 together, and see what that looks like? I have no idea what color combo or lens combo or what... and if you already did that just tell me which one... and i'll apologize :)

There's something about #109 that really really does something for me.

Hi Amber, sorry for the late respond but I had to go my daughter to her TaeKwoDo lessons and then make some food shopping and... and...
Please bear with me until tomorrow that I'll be able to make these new drafts.

Hi Amber,

Are you wake up?
I just submitted #159, #160 variants.

In my opinion I would go for something like #159, #109.
They're minimal, playful and they manage to combine well the artistic profile of your business without loosing their contemporary touch.
I really don't want to confuse with that!

Thanks

Hey... give me a second to look at what we've got, and I'll get back with you. I've had the flu, and I'm just now returning to life....

I still REALLY want to see a combination of 108 and 55... where the arms and legs are both frames... and I'd like to see two variants... one with the lens from 108 and one with the lens from 55. I prefer the text from 108.

I'd also like to see 109 with the colors swapped. I'm not even certain we have the right colors set up yet, but I want to get the logoform set up first.

Are we allowed to discuss the addition changes/logos/designs I wish to get from you in this forum? Or am I not allowed to ask for additional work (that I would pay for) at all?

I've actually almost completely committed to some version of #109, I just want to see that combo of #108 and #55 before I commit completely. You are officially my winner, I just don't want to commit to a specific logo without feeling like I know exactly which one is perfect for my biz (which is launching in less than a week, so I want to get this done ASAP.)

for final design... colors i'm liking (and lets make sure we are working on a 2 color logo only)

The new spring trendy Pantone colors just happen to contain a version of green/turquoise and purple.

http://www.pantone.com/pages/fcr.aspx?pg=21016&ca=4&d=1 - I'd be curious to see both of these (once we have picked a final design)

http://www.pantone.com/pages/fcr.aspx?pg=21022&ca=4&d=1 - I'd be curious to see how that purple looks

If these colors don't rock my world, than we can find the closest pantone colors to your current combos, and I think we are dead on!

Hi Amber :)

Sorry to hear about you being sick, hope you didn't pass it to your kids!

I made the adjustments you wanted in my #161, #162, #163 drafts.
Regarding Pantone colors I converted the samples you sent me into spot printing ones, Green: Pantone 3278C and Purple: 528C (with a shade of 30% for lighter purple).

After you close the contest we can have direct email communication for any extra work.
I'll be gone for a short trip from 2nd to 6th of May (it's our Easter holidays) but before and after this period I'm at your disposal.

Thanks!!
Pink

Okays. It is definitely #109 or #161... the only decision I need to make is the color. Are you ok with me choosing #109 as the winner so we can close the contest, but potentially changing the color to something like #161 afterward?

I like the faded look... it feels a little vintage, a little less perfect... a little less crisp. And I think that suits the brand perfectly... do you have opinion, as a designer?

Let me know if youre ok with tweaking the colors after we close the contest... I'm actually going to move #161 into that spot for now... I leaning that direction.

Don't worry about any additional changes I'll make it with pleasure:)
Do you have a Pantone color book (I don't) or do you have any printer that has one in order to check the colors?

I do not have a Pantone book, but the colors are close enough I think... What's the ratio on the robot do you think? 1.5x2 or 1x2?

Logo Designer
You've right, colors are close enough.
The ration on the robot icon is:

Width: X
Height: X + 1/2X

Hi Amber,

Hope you're doing well.
Since you haven't still ended the contest I believe you're having second thoughts about my logo.

Anyhow, as I mentioned tomorrow morning I'll be leaving for my Easter holidays and be back at 6th of May, so you'll have plenty of time to make a decision.

Thanks,
