#7 Hi Scott I think these colors are too washed out. We want super saturated colors and a logo that two or 3 tone at most. We love Cyan and bright blues
Also I think Yoga Shala needs to be written in uppercase. A more modern or fresh font if possible. Thank you for this submission! I'm excited to see more :)
#11 Lauren's feedback: I like this one! I would be curious to see the inner potion in a bright cyan or turquoise rather than green. I love the font but feel it would look better if the words "yoga shala" could be seen in their entirety. Thanks for this submission :)
This looks really nice, however I think it lacks some excitement/punchiness and maybe a little depth. . I really want something that will grab attention quickly quickly and build fast recognition. I find it's a little too flowery.
I also don't love the placement, i find it restricts the size of the logo. I would rather have a larger image on top which will grab the audience's eye, bringing their attention to the words - I like the approach in number #2 and #5 where the emphasis is on Yoga Shala.
I think i'd like to see something a little more dynamic, cool and punchy.
here are a few 'mandala' concepts we've seen and think could be interesting influences - in no particular order:
C) We both like this conceptually, but dont like the 'disc' shape of the mandalas. I think having a curved mandala repeated forming a sphere could be a super cool concept. I would keep them all the same, and same colour - or slightly varied shading.
D) conceptually we like this one, however dont like the colours... also don't like the density of the centre. Having something that draws attention to the centre would be interesting and effective.
Please let me know if all the links work and what you think of these ideas. We both like your work and hope together we'll be able to come up with our perfect logo!
The concept is based on ZEN referencing Zen gardens. the circular part is land or basin the wave lines above is river or tributary flowing into the bay or basin. You find this in western cultures what I am referring to here is the filling a bowel or cup, if you ever noticed horse that are hung over door way or barn door they are always pointed up, a sign of good luck and fortune, placing a horse shoe upside down is not a good thing.
This version the idea here is all branding from signage banners (vertical) business cards, stationery, coffee mugs etc are all branded from the top down.
Lauren's feedback: Hi Scott, #53-55 I'm not super into... I find it looks like a beverage.
I do agree with you about the simplicity of the logo. Unfortunately this is where Brian and I disagree. I want something far more simple, him something more complex. This is why we've decided on logo tournament, to see what is out there and what kind of happy medium/compromise we can come to.
I like #51 and #52 a lot! I would like to see it the edges slightly more pointed though, I find it is a bit for lack of a better word chubby looking. I do like this direction!! Keep it up!!
Also, what about #11 as a full circular shape? Maybe that inner image in a circle on top of the words "Montreal Yoga Shala" instead of vertically and boxed.
Brian's Feedback: I'm fine with simple, i'm not ok with boring. I want something that will really grab attention - simple can do that if its done right. I dont want something super complex and busy or distracting. I think Lauren and I both agree on that.
I dont love the use of the symbol as the letter O, i find it looses the effectiveness of the logo. It forces it to be shrunk and looses the detail. I'd rather have a logo that captures peoples attention and then brings their focus to the words.
Were you able to see any of the pictures of mandalas that Lauren and I both liked conceptually? As nice as something may look, I'm wanting a logo that will be incredibly effective. Looking nice is a must, but not enough on its own.
Lauren's feedback: I disagree with Brian on the O concept, I really liked it! But I will compromise on that if it is a must (unless you can find something that works on top and for the O like the one you had just a bit more exciting)
I don't like the way the text is placed in #59 and #60. Also, I think she shape is better, but still a bit simple. It looks a bit like a web... which isn't really what we want. It does draw the eye in and have movement which is good!!
Lauren's feedback: I keep getting drawn back to #51 #52 and #60. It isn't quite there yet... but my eye continues to be drawn to the cleanliness and brightness of these logos. The font is great! Keep up the good work Scott, you are definitely moving in the direction we want... I'm so excited to see more from you! L
---------------------------------- We do not want: Lotus flowers, Om Symbols, people meditating or any typical yoga imagery. ------------------------------------
Here's a concept that I like - I don't like the figure, or the idea of someone in lotus. Otherwise i think it works quite nicely. I'd love to see it inspire something that speaks to us. Perhaps something a little bit more modern, dynamic or vivid.
Lauren's feedback: Hi Scott the reason why we are shuffling things around it because Brian and I are both ranking. We don't like the same things... I don't really want a person. He does. I am only open to the idea of a person if it is very abstract. Our tastes are very different and we needed to come to a compromise, this is why we opted for logotournament. If the people are abstract, and they don't look like people, I'm okay with it...
I will forward your feedback to him. Thanks Scott!
