Hi :) Here's my proposal for the logo. "10th Anniversary" can be removed and subsequent events can just have the years changed to 200-22012 - OR - you could just change it to "Since 2002", "Est. 2002", etc.
Also - wasn't sure if "Deputies" should have a possessive apostrophe or not. It's easy to remove if not.
Beautiful work!! If it's not a royal pain in the ass, there are just a few modifications. First: Please remove the ship and put a generic bird/seagull in the sky towards the left hand side of the logo. Second: Remove the golfer and instead of a hill (that the golfer is currently on) can you place a green there with a marker flag? Will that look right? Maybe define the golf ball just a little more in the lower half of the logo.
Other than that your fonts and ideas are spot on! Thank you so much!
haha - not a problem at all! I'll need a little time to make the revisions, but I should have them sometime early tomorrow afternoon-ish at the latest. (is that's okay)
#27 is looking great!! I think there may be just a -few- very minor tweaks but this is looking like the one. I am going to show the others involved and get back to you tonight or tomorrow at the latest. Thanks!
Okay. Here are my last tweaks :-) The two half circle dunes in the background, can those be a touch less half circle? Can the green be a little more like a golf green (not looking for perfect) and the flag, we're thinking yellow or red on the pin flag. The golf dimples just a touch more faded like the original. I think that's it! Thanks, you brought a serious logo to the table!!
This was just brought up. The logo will most likely be on darker colored shirts. Is there a way this brown won't get lost in the darker colors? Especially the lettering on top? I think we agreed on red as the color of the pin flag and maybe do the segmented red/white on the actual pole of the flag like I've seen in #28. Is there a way to make the "10th Anniversary" bigger and the dates below it smaller? I do like how the whole logo progressively pyramids down though! Integration of stars were brought up by some. On either side of "Monterey County" is there a way to integrate a gold 5 pointed Deputy star? Or on either side of the "Deputies Benefit Association"? Not sure if the Deputy Star is going to throw things off too much....we even considered a small star in the middle of the red pin flag? Let me know if this screws with the dimensions of the logo too much. Thanks!
hahaha - not a problem, I totally understand. More cooks in the kitchen = more ingredients in the soup :D
#41 / #42
here are some revised options with the following changes:
-I made the striped pin with red flag. I was initially trying to decide between the striped or solid pin and chose the solid...but I think you're right - the striped calls more attention to the pin (which makes sense for a tournament logo!)
-For adapting the color to the dark background - I can change the "overall" color to anything, so if you like the layout of the dark gray, but you're going to use brown shirts (for example) it's an easy switch.
-Moved the dates out and adjusted the 10TH ANNIVERSARY part
-Stars: two variations - the brown version more prominent, but I also liked the symbolic placement by the dates on the gray. (I'm working on another variation with a single, larger star on one side of the banner. Just didn't like the asymmetrical outline...so trying to fix that before uploading it.) For both, I did add the star to teh flag - it's small, so I don't know how impact-ful you were wanting it to be. If subtle is okay, then that would be ideal (of course - as a designer - I'm ALWAYS rooting for "less is more" - hahahaha...so take that particular opinion for what it's worth!)
if I missed anything, or if you'd like to see something else, please just let me know. thanks! josh
-Lifted the banner a little to divide the circle evenly - wasn't a problem before, but with the outline it looked "off".
Ok Josh, looking great!! #42 is the closest! Then we could use a version of it closer to #27 for placement on a white shirt.
I think you're right on the less is more concept! I honestly believe this will be one of the last tweaks. We are there! I hope you're not pouring ridiculous time into this, I know the prize isn't amazingly grande!
- Remove "DBA Golf Tournament" from the lower part of the logo.
Next year we will be removing 10th Anniversary. How do we go about getting a version of that from you? Is that possible to do here? If you want to get in touch with me my name is Nate and the number is 831-915-1528. We had figured that for next year we would make the following changes:
- Make the scenery part of the golf ball 2/3 to 3/4 of the total golf ball (whichever looks more correct)
- Remove 10th Anniversary
- Place "Since 2002" there instead
Let me know how we're looking with those changes. Thanks! Oh! The pin flag is a dual point flag. Is that as correct as a single point flag? If so, keep it!
Hey Nate! Good to hear - I would do basically the same design as #42, but with dark outer text for a white shirt (and with the revision of removing the DBA... part)
For the changes for future use, that's technically an extra/additional logo, so I can't really discuss it due to LogoTournament policy (sorry) Those WOULD be very easy changes to make...but I can't discuss it until the contest is over, though. Sorry, hope you understand.
as for flags...haha - I honestly have no idea. I'll try and find out. haha
Ok. All is good! Looking forward to those minor changes. As it is they wanted to have more picture in this current design and ditch "Golf Tournament" in favor of more picture. I vetoed that :-) I figure this one will have a little more going on then subsequent years we can have a touch more scenary.
Can you make it a little more circular like a golfball or does that screw it up?
I totally understand on the tourney rules! All good!
#48 was just to show how it could be adapted to future years - is that all you were wanting to see for that? I may have mis-understood it earlier. It's important to see the adaptability of the logo - how it can grow with you, etc.
I do think you want to keep a certain amount of text - particularly the "GOLF TOURNAMENT" text, simply because it's the "meat" of the logo - just my opinion. (I do try and offer it when I can as an "outsider with branding experience", though :) )
Yea! All looking great! I was trying to relay the 3/4 or 2/3 of the golf ball being the dune scenery instead of 50% ball and 50% scenery. Especially since there's less text on the golf ball part. Does that make sense at all?
ahhh - okay. Yeah, that makes sense. That would be a different logo then. It wouldn't be THAT hard to change up, though. Do you want me to try that for this (10th Anniversary) logo?
although - in thinking about it...the scene is nice to have to establish the tone, but I think the golf ball / text are just as - if not more - important to the communication aspect of the logo. Otherwise, it's just a picture - you know?
again - take it for what it's worth - just thinking out loud...
Agreed! You did great! It's clean, gets the point across and can be carried thru to other years. The only other hesitation is how the detail will show up in embroidery....especially the golf ball dimples... any thoughts?
Embroidery does limit the art somewhat - I usually do a "stripped down" version for illustrative logos to be used for embroidery. The dimples shouldn't be a problem - I'd say you could do them as solid, slightly darker tones of gray that wouldn't vary much at all.I'll have it up in a little bit. :)
Although - you might want to check the actual version too - it might be fine as-is, or it could need some minor adjustment. The digitizer person would be the one to know for sure.
heard back from a friend of mine here on LT (in CA, too) that does all sorts of merchandising/embroidery/promotional items and she thought the logo would work fine.
