Our Ideas & Additional Information
I like the idea of using a woman's head silhouetted in black (representing the "Mind" part of the name), in combination with some element of home design (an elegant chandelier, lush draperies, architectural elements, etc.). Because the name "Mind Your Manors" implies a bit of proper behavior, the logo can have an old-fashioned feel to it yet with a modern woman depicted. I'm also a huge "Mad Men" fan, so something from that era would be fun too. Also, Dorothy Parker is a big influence. So have fun!

I definitely like the font choices and white background. Design #1 is a bit too geometrical/modern.

Designs 3, 4, and 5 are definitely including the whimsy. I like the feminine flourishes and use of color.

#11 is very clever, with the reverse image being a fancy lamp. I like that.

#6, while being very inventive, will definitely not be attracting female clients! I do like the overall design, but the silhouette is too racy and implicates a different business service all-together. I like the inclusion of the chair and artwork.

#8 is exactly what I had in mind with the chandelier in black - good job! I would want to see a fancier font.

#5 and #7 don't quite contain graphical representation of interior design, so viewing them leaves me with the impression of something more related to jewelry making or women's clothing. However, I like the other aspects of those designs (color, style, artwork).

#2 is growing on me: simple, elegant, easy to understand. It's a contender.

This is getting good! I am enjoying the creative process and think contestants are on the right track. Thank you!

Design #15 is beautiful, yet I would like the silhouettes to form a specific shape (i.e., there should be a reason why the silhouettes are there: to not just convey the "mind" part of the name, but to also help form the shape of a home decor object).

Designs #16 and 17 are beautiful but I fear a bit too intricate for reproducing on print materials, web sites, e-mail sigs, etc.

Design #18 is nice, yet too angular. It would be a good logo for an architectural design firm.

I also make elaborate custom draperies, if that gives anyone an idea about using the silhouette element to form another shape.

You guys are doing terrific! I love your ideas.

Designs #24-27 are beautiful but perhaps more suited to a hair styling business.

Designs #28-30 and 36 are nice, but too stark. The beauty of the reverse image is its subtlety, and I feel these designs are a bit too obvious. Also, I see a mustache when I view these designs.

Design #31 is too modern, as are designs #32-34.

I have extended the contest another 5 days. I think the designs submitted so far are excellent and very creative, so keep submitting your ideas.

The contest FAQs suggest that I start working with a designer to make small modifications before the contest ends, so that's one of the reasons why I have extended it (to give me more time to fine-tune some of the designs before making a final decision).

Thanks, and keep creating!

Designers:

Another concept would be to incorporate the image of a house (or manor) into the design, to convey that this is an interior design business.

Thanks-
