Hello, Michael:

I've submitted 3 designs for your perusal. I'm using crop marks in these concepts, which is, I believe, a good fit with your image. This signifies the focus of the image and the viewer of your business name.

And please remember: no concept is set in stone. If you prefer a different concept or revision, I'm more than happy to hear your thoughts and put them to good use.

Jennifer

Michael,

I hate to bring this up, but in all honesty you as a fellow creative can appreciate the position I'm now in.

I'm guessing you wouldn't appreciate another photographer taking any element of your work, and using it in his own work without permission. That's the situation I'm in now -- someone else is using my design concept in your contest, which is my work.

The 1st ranked design (entry #46) by the user "Krogulec", his other submission (entry #47), the 5th ranked design (entry #66) by the user "dars" and all other entries by dars (entries #65, #67, #68) are all using crop marks, which is a concept first introduced by me. If you'll recall, I introduced crop marks in entries #3 and #4.

In a contest, the designer who introduced a concept first "owns" it, and is entitled to be the one who revises it. The Client will need to get revisions for this concept through the Designer who introduced it. Not through just "any old Designer."

Again, I believe you as a fellow creative can understand the position I'm in. If you would like to have me do something different with this concept such as make it look "web 2.0" shiny as the current top-ranked one is, I'll be happy to oblige, as it's my concept to work with as I choose. It's also my obligation to tweak it for you, to your liking.

Please contact me with any questions.

Regards,
Jennifer

Here's the section of LT rules I'm referencing. You can find it at the bottom of your Contest Page, where people may post general comments about the contest, whether they're Clients or Designers:

Contest Holder Guidelines for posting

We require that you do not ask one designer to use elements or concepts from another Designer. The general rule is that, if a Designer was the first to submit the idea, they essentially own that concept or idea for the remainder of the contest. Requests or ideas you have put in your contest Brief are fair game and open to everyone. Concepts that are considered obvious will also be fair game, for example: a dog & cat for a pet hospital, shopping bag for an e-commerce company, a tooth for a dentist, initials for a lawyer, etc.

I understand you did not ask these users to use my concept in their posting, but I thought you may want to see where I'm coming from, as far as "ownership" is defined.

Hope your 4th is great! Thanks again for understanding in advance.
