Could we see #66 in a different font thank you for the other styles -- if you look at our books you will see they are about personal growth and spiritual in nature so images like the bird and wing interest us the most
Hello marlowemk, as I post new ideas please let me know if I hit upon something interesting you would like to explore further. Sometimes the message is right but the execution needs a little feedback to get there.
#99 has strong interest from some of our selection team but others think the reverse is too dark -- what if you used a brushstroke to make the circle leaving it slightly open and didn't reverse?
Hello marlowemk, do you have any feedback that you can give. Often there is a conflict between trying to communicate what you do from your the feeling your product is intended to give.
Sometime we try to explain the business in a logo but this can lead to convolution of ideas. How it feels is really what you are selling. People wont study it the way you do, they feel it more.
#190 #165 We like the brank growing through the circle as in #190 but we like the simpler stalk of the branch in #165 -- in addition we like the circle just a little thinner not as much as #147 more like #148.
we are leaning away from the compressed font of #190 - we need the text in the logo to scale well -- meaning it is clear and readable at different sizes -- from a signature in an email, to the mast on our website, to printed b/w on the title page of a book.
hope that helps -- We wold like to make a decision tonight before end of judging period
Hi again, I have posted some revisions for you. #209 has a weight thats right in the middle of the last entries. I included a tiny one as a test for limits online/on screen. In print of course this can work even smaller.
For colors we can certainly find other pleasing combinations. You may find that you can have different colors for different situations and still retain the core identity of the brand. OR we can work closely together as well to define an overall brand color scheme.
There is still some time, feedback is always welcome. I will also post a couple on a background color as options.
ok we are just about there w don't want to lose the brushstroke though as depicted in #206-#212 - This brushstroke is nicely evident #160 and #162 -- complete these and I think thats it
ha this is a bit like adjusting the hot water in shower at the hotel -- little adjustments lead to bigger results than intended. #95 #165 #190 all had just about the right amount of feathering -- the circle is a little open and we mostly notice the brushstroke at the open ends -- these 3 were the stroke itself was too strong --
We are ready to declare you the winner if we can just work out these variations and know that we can get it in a few color samples
....if we can just work out these variations and know that we can get it in a few color samples rather than having to get the one perfect color scheme
we agree with your statement "You may find that you can have different colors for different situations and still retain the core identity of the brand."
Hi again, sorry i had to step away for a couple of hours. #217, #218 and #219 are the latest. All same size.
As I have found, this is an interesting optical dilemma and it took a little back and forth to get to this one. The trick is that color carries different visual weight - obviously darker is heavier. So when it goes to one color the overall weight balance shifts slightly. I think this last set has the weight that can carry the range of color values presented.
By values i mean that you can choose another color like purple but you choose a purple with the right value or litheness. Actually its a great guide to picking and maintaining a value consistency of color to the look of the brand.
Ok great we agree that you have the right balance.
So to clarify and sorry for the specifics -- but this is an odd way to communicate via email to make sure we are all in agreement.
We are buying the "core identity of the brand" and not asking you to lock in on a color scheme with us by trial and error and more examples. By core identity we mean graphic and font, size, weight, spacial relations as depicted in #217
As a final deliverable will you provide us with 1) different color schemes that we can try out and use appropriately #216, #217, #218 and #210 adjusted to be like #216 2) including the color reverse ones such as #211 and #212?
If we are in agreement than we will conclude the contest.
Hello marlowemk, when you buy the logo it is yours to do as you wish. You alone will hold that right, I have no right to it except perhaps in my portfolio :)
I can and will provide any number combination of colors you think can cover your needs. The files delivered will be Illustrator vector eps, which is infinitely scaleable. Having the original file also means that you can change things to whatever you need yourself.
I supply a full spec of font and color break downs for reference in the file, as well as my contact info.
Congratulations !! You put it a lot of hard work and we are glad to select you as the winner. Behind the scenes we could have also selected two other designs you did. They were very much appreciated also -- we would have ranked you 1 and 2 with different designs but the contest does not allow it.
WE can receive files in native Adobe Illustrator format .ai -- We have Illustrator 6 and 5 in our office.
Thank you so much Michael, I appreciate your kind words. Give me a few moments to gather everything together for you. I have Illustrator 4 so we are fine and you will certainly have you files delivered a couple of hours.
Here is my personal contact. David Smith dasboot@rcn.com
