Hi, here's my initial entry for your consideration. I am a huge fan of Brazilian music too, and the first instrument that comes to my mind is the guitar. So I created an organic M shape that alludes to a guitar. The font could easily be changed up (script may be too feminine), but I felt this one went really well with the overall feel. A simple sans serif would look good too, and I'll put one together for you. Many thanks, and I'd love to have your feedback!
This is a fantastic start! I almost want to end the contest now, but I guess I should see what else comes in :-)
I really like the M shape as a guitar... it really does give it the breezy Brazilian feel I was looking for. I would say maybe try a few different shape concepts. I like the font in entry 3 and 4 better for the more professional/technology touch. The color combination of green and white is perfect for its cleanliness and simplicity.
Thanks a ton,
Ivan

By the way, I'm downloading from your site right now. As soon as I visited, I remembered your first LT contest right away! Can't remember if I entered it or not...
My brother got me into Brazilian jazz, bossa nova, and the like back when I was in high school (so long ago). He majored in classical guitar at Indiana University and studied for four years under Ernesto Bitetti. It was an amazing experience.
Thanks for the new entries... I still like the first ones best. I like the placement of the text justified right better than in the middle and I like the multiple lines. The record nerd in me sees those as vinyl grooves.
Thanks for the feedback -- it's good to know what you're thinking and what's turning you on. I'm working to refine/perfect my original concept for you -- if you think it needs it. I'll stop hitting you with the same thing over and over unless you ask for it (after this).
Also, since you mentioned the guitar strings reminded you of vinyl grooves, I put another idea together for you. Oh, and I listened to your Compacto mix the whole time! Your work is wonderful! Thank you for sharing it -- you've opened me up to a lot of new artists I might not have otherwise discovered.
So I had an idea related to the vinyl grooves concept... instead of having the lines straight and to the right, how about having the lines curve along the right side of the Guitar "M" logo as if it were a record. Seems like that could work.
I'm also kinda torn on the text font. On one side, I'm looking for a professional look, but on the other side, I want it to work with the mark and appeal to the music part. I really like the Amazon style text in entry #10 and think it would work well with this mark.
Hi Ivan, here are some revisions. I tried making the grooves come out from the M, but it was awkward -- at least the way I was envisioning it at the time -- if I just use arcs as opposed to complete circles, there was no natural place for them to end. I've tried a few things here, and I'd love your feedback, as always. I've also thrown a few different fonts in the mix. I don't know the font from the entry you referenced, but I prefer not to use an element from another designer's work, even if it is just a font. I'll keep looking for something if you aren't keen on any of these. Many thanks!
Thanks again for your continued entries... I certainly appreciate the effort and you're still he front runner! After looking at all of them, I actually think the font from #1 is the best so far. I certainly understand not using fonts from other entries so I was just thinking of the influence.
I like the idea of vinyl grooves inside the mark. I only worry that may be tough for print work. Entries #27 and #29 are great concepts, but it's tough to recognize it as vinyl grooves.
This just came to me, but I was thinking maybe instead of vinyl grooves inside the circle area like in #29, how about a take on the 45 adapter like the one in my Forty Fivan logo. It might be cool to have a link between the two now that I think about it. My personal brand could extend to my professional one. Hmmmmm... :-)
