Welcome aboard! And thank you for making the time to join our contest!

(#410) You certainly can try and use a lighthouse (guidance theme), but they are so overused in our business that you will have to do something EXTRAORDINARY to pull it off. [smile]

(#405) I like the impact of this word stack ... and the wave is a nice touch. The W is a bit hard to read but you can fix that I'm sure. And the lighthouse from #410 is a build on that block.

Let's try and tie-in some other intuitive, relevant graphics with your fine typeography. Otherwise (and unfortunately we're seeing this in many of the contest entries) you only get logos that are "decorative" versus "informative."

Your work for Hospital Gift Shop did a wonderful job of telling their "story."

Our story also needs to be reflected in our logo:

- small, upcoming self-publisher in the boating industry
- provides cruising guides (books that tell you how and where to go in your boat)
- new player (younger, exciting, current information, uses high-tech and innovative methods for data gathering and presentation)

Let's have fun and try some new ideas altogether!

Thanks, Mark

p.s. A lot of people asked that I don't bin things in the "not interested" column unless they are "horrible. Not a problem, I'll start ranking again ... with low rankings meaning what they mean and our dialog mainly taking place by post. Recognize that I do have a problem in that LT does not tell me when you have posted to this page. I only get notification with a "private message."

Interesting build. I like how you made the name more readable.

And your open book begins to look like a bow wave with a boat headed right at you.

Is that the direction you're taking this? Better representation of the boat, bow wave, and book?

And more integrated with the name and tag line?

I think that might work!

Thanks so much for working hard on our logo. Keep 'em coming!

I like how the waves looks like the book's pages, this give you two meannings in one simple design, in this concept you got the book, the boat making the way and the book. sorry about my english is too basic.

Your English is excellent! We're doing fine.

I'm kind of losing the concept of the book. Can you make that a little more clear somehow. A little less abstract?

And the overall design less busy? Remember, this is either going to be small (in a book) or big (like signage at a trade show) but seen at a distance.

Please don't give up on us yet. We're not even close to picking a winner yet ... so keep those brain cells churning and those great design concepts coming!
