Color Preferences
Blues, grays, blacks - "corporate" power colors. (As I'm going out "on my own" as just one person, I want to project a solid - almost law-firm like stability.)
I would like a accent or splash of color.
Our Ideas & Additional Information
I am a former TV news anchor turned communications consultant.
My goal is to sell clear communication training. I'm looking for something very simple and bold. Clear and easy to read - but packs a big punch, just like great communication.
I like globes, beaches, waves, sun, travel. I'm looking to emphasize international, modern, and professional.

(The winners for Sandler-Innocenzi and Divine Productions both look great to me - not sure how to link to those contests.)

Discussion

#1 - I like the boldness and simplicity of the letters and the black and blue colors but the red "J" reminds me of an Asian-influenced business, more like a sushi restaurant. I see my business as more corporate in feel... maybe leaning toward that of a law firm. Interesting idea to get creative with the "J" though... thanks.

#2 - I like the simplicity of the design but despite my suggestions, I think now the anchor may not translate, as it looks very nautical. I'll change my preferences to reflect that. I think I'm also looking for a little more boldness and variation in colors.

#3- I like the blue and black combo a lot - wondering if there's room for gray somewhere too? I recall one card where there was a slight accent (the dot of an "i" in red." I love that type of very subtle detail if there's room for it. (Without being busy, it looks like it promotes the idea of attention to detail.) I like the image of the bird too, but not necessarily for this brand as there's no connection with birds. Thanks-

#4 - I like the concept here - it's getting closer to what it is I do. I think I'd prefer a deeper blue to create a more corporate, less cutesy look. Also, not sure about the significance of the dot over the eye, but I like the attempt to be original... thanks.

#5 - I like this concept but wonder if it should be more colorful. Maybe try incorporating a dark red somewhere?? While the other blue was a little too bright for me I did like the contrast and boldness...

How about the image of a wave next to the name? My company is based in Southern California so it would be a nice tie-in. Thanks!!!

I think if you have the wave by the name, it would have the same problem as the anchor did, and potential clients wont understand what it is you actually do.

#6&7 - Yeah - I'm struggling with that. My husband felt the easel is a little too old school and doesn't demonstrate forward-thinking solutions. I do see his point, although it's the only thing thus far that's been descriptive... I guess my thought now is that since my business is international (globe) and based in San Diego (wave) that there might be logic or association in that?
Thanks too for adding the red... although I do find myself more attracted to the blues after all.
I'm so sorry I'm all over the place!!! I've never done this before - maybe you can throw a couple new things in the mix to start fresh? I really appreciate your patience with me : )

Hey dont worry its fine, I'll try what your suggesting and start over and see what you think of a few more fresh ideas, and if you find yourself not liking them i'm sure other people will submit ideas in a few days so maybe you can pick things from different designs and hopefully create something you really like :D

#8, 9 and 10
Wow, I like how you played off the word "Major" and made the logo very bold and powerful - very cool shadows in the blue versions also. I see a lot of strength in these.
I loved both blues you used - and the combination of them together. They seem to be the colors that resonate for me.
I'm not sure about shortening it from "Majors" to "Major" because it's not actually my name - but again, I love the play on the word.
I like the image of the head in 8 & 10 too - better I think than the image of the entire body in 9 as it feels a little "James Bond-ish" to me. I do think too, while I'm looking for simplicity I want some color as opposed to black and white.
Great job - thanks for the fresh ideas - keep them coming!!!

Wow - you guys have great ideas!!!! I'm amazed at this pool of talent!! Here are some quick thoughts...

I love the colors in the ones ranked on top now: (#25, 11, 29, 24)

I really like the creativity in #24 but a couple people have thought the J looks like a T.

I like the boldness of #29 a lot, although a couple people have commented that there's really no significance in "MC" as an acronym.. especially with "Majors" being such a strong name on its own. I'm sort of thinking through that...

I like look of #22 with all its variations a lot. I saw it somewhere else and loved it, but wonder if it gets busy and the wording small with my elements.

I like the concept and simplicity in 26, 27 and 28 - especially how you wrapped the tag-line and used the word "communications" in 28, although I'm not sure about the font. It doesn't feel as modern as I'm looking for.

I'll revisit soon with more thoughts - THANK YOU ALL for your great ideas!!!

Hi All,

Thanks for so much great stuff here... I'm really liking a lot of elements of many of these logos. I am finding that the slogan is pretty small in most of these and difficult to read. Perhaps it's best to leave it out entirely. (Sorry for my indecisiveness - I just came to this...)

Can you remove it from #29 and #25? Also, on #25, can you bold the word Majors, as in 29 and 31 and try it in the same font as 29?

On 29 I really like how Majors is big and Communications is smaller under it - great font too.

#30- I appreciate the new shape "M" but I think it's too dark... also looking for a little more variation in the font.

I don't know what the effect many of you use is called, but whatever that light to dark color/shadow that adds dimension is great. I much prefer it over the flatter look.

#33 - I really like the new fresh stab at it - I'm not crazy about the font of the "m" but I like the balance of the bold Majors with the lighter Communications below it with the line in between. Maybe a different style "M"?

#35 - I like the boldness of Majors and the font - I'm not sure about the symbols (my husband loves them!)...

Thanks again!!

#38 & 39 - Can you put a line under the "Majors" like #29 did? I'd like to see how that looks... I really like that font #29 used too.

But a friend mentioned they thought the "MC" looked like an "MO" in #29. I didn't see that but now I do... maybe there's a way to close out the "O" a little to make it appear more like a "C"?

Thank you!!

#44 - Thanks for the fresh idea - not sure about the hands though. I'm not opposed to a symbol, but I'd prefer something stronger, more powerful.

#43 - thanks for attempting that swoosh for a fresh look. While I really liked it on other logos I'm not sure it's right for what I'm looking for.

#46 - This is really interesting... can you make the "communications" bigger and darken the shade of blue (not to dark, but less turquoise)... Thanks for this new design (my husband LOVES this one.)

#48 - This is very solid... it conveys the stability / experience I'm looking for but I think it needs more color - a little more punch. Maybe more of that marbled/shiny look you guys do... thanks!

Shoot, I just wrote a ton of comments and deleted them... LOVE many of these. Have to run but will comment in a couple hours when I return. thank you to all of you!!!

This is getting really tough - I'm seeing so much that I really love.

#39 - I'm still looking for that line between Majors and Communications like it is in #41.

I really like the dynamic, bold and shadowy look of 70 and 72.

I also like 57 as it connotes improvement and growth.

73 is super clever - I'm trying to decide though if it's too subtle for the statement I'm trying to make.

Still love 41 but two people now have thought the C is an O.

65 is very cool and creative - sometimes the wave looks a little like a snail though - perhaps smaller and a little more like an "m"?

I like 53, not sure if it's too preppy for me though (argyle).

I like 52 a lot too - I'm trying to visualize it with different colored backgrounds.

Really love 37, 24 and 51 - it's just a matter of whether I choose to go with the globe theme.

The colors look flat to me in 43 and I'm not sure of the M in 56.

I like the simplicity of 48 - but if feels like it needs more depth, color, marble, shadow.

I'm not crazy about the MC in 50 or the C in 68.

I'm not crazy about the colors or check pattern in the 67 series.

I think there's too much black in 49.

I like the simplicity of 44, but not so into the hands.

I hope I didn't forget any... there are so many good ones it's hard to keep track....

#52 - I'm liking this more and more - can you try with the line between Majors and Communications and the same font as 70? Thanks!

Can anyone add the brightness of 70 into 39? I like how the letters appear bright and shiny.

76- I like the concept here a lot but not the color purple - can you try with the blue/gray/black combo?

#39 - My husband is asking if the M can be straighter up and down as opposed to spread out... he says it will appear more masculine/powerful? Not sure if that's the case but I'd love to see it?

73- Everyone I show this logo to finds it really appealing, but I think and another person noted that the "m" is a little meek.. can we try pumping it up somehow?

I'm not wild about 85 because it reminds me of a blue m&m.. but thanks for the submission.

87 - Cute but doesn't really move me.

Both 83 and 84 - Cool ideas - can you darken the blue to the realm of #32 and add dimension?

81 - I like the new fresh look, let me ponder this.. while it's creative, not sure I want to block "Majors" as it's such a strong name.

82- still loving that whole genre... thanks for the options on it.

Hmmm.. really liking 88 a lot..can you make the communications a tad darker so it shows up... also, don't know if it would be good to make the Majors look shiny like in 70?

Love that 92 is like a microphone, but the result doesn't grab me (awesome creativity though!)

91 reminds me a little of a car logo - not sure why?

96 & 97 are still too purple for me - but great design.

95 feels too playful., 100 - I'm not sure I like the "cap"

#101- Can you bring a little black into this logo to make it appear more powerful? Interesting concept!

Thank you all for the new and great entries I keep getting... I'm running too short on time in these final hours to comment on each one individually but I want to let you know they're appreciated!
