"Musk Quat" is the Ojibway word for "bear den". The main service users of this transition home will be French, English and Aboriginal women and their children.
Black bears are abundant in the Timmins area and the image of the "mama bear" and a Bear Den is symbolic to a mother and her children making a home for herself and her little ones during the difficult times. A bear den is a temporary refuge the same as a transitional home is to women and children. The bear den captures the essence of the transitional housing environment.
We would appreciate ideas that relate to a natural or aboriginal inspired bear / den. Whimsical fantasy bears like teddy bears or Winnie the Pooh is not what we want. We want to feel the harness of nature's energy in our logo with a healing and soothing feel.
