Thank you for your submission . I was instantly attracted to your clean, bright design. My favourite is entry #7 - with the words within the disk. I like the two colors together- very fresh!

As we sell supplies to all animals (dog, cat, small animals - eg rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, aquarium fish, some poultry and some wild bird) we cant just show the fish in the logo. I think i was unclear in my brief and I amended that. We sell SUPPLIES for all animals but at this point the only live animals we sell are fish.

I'm glad you like it! Here are new variations with other animals included as well: #8, #9

I'm awaiting your thoughts.
Thanks!

Hi!

Yes this is working for us. I believe a fish dog cat combination would best suit us, if you can make that work.
I am thinking I like the movement the added swirl in #8 provides but at the same time #9 without the swirl gives such a pleasing well balanced look and there is also movement as the eye travels from animal to animal. I am assuming this is something that can be decided in time. I think for the time being my fav would be without swirl but with it in the back of our minds in case we want to add back in later in the contest? Hoping that make sense....

if you are able to change the animals then I think this logo is a real contender at this point in the contest.

I like your style - i wonder if you have any interest in incorporating something of Maine in a separate submission. The biz is here in Maine with my boyfriend and I am from Bermuda and instantly fell in love with the natural beauty, wildness and diversity of environment here -- rocky coast, lakes, mountains--- its insanely beautiful -- (look at images of Acadia National park?). I understand completely if this aspect does not interest you . I just wonder what that would look like. Your existing entry stands strongly on its own!

Hi there!

I just uploaded new versions with a cat on them, with and without a swirl: #24, #25
I'll think of implementing some elements of a landscape, but this might make the logo a bit too cluttered. Simplicity is always best if it's done right and catches attention.

Thanks for the feedback!

Hello again!

# 24 is our favourite of yours... wondering if you would consider amending the outer ring to resemble a ships wheel? we are on the coast and in a sailing/shipping area.

Also.. do you know if, should we choose your logo, can we get in two versions? I.e. the large circular logo as in #24 and a more horizontal version like in # 6 to use on certain road signage which is horizontal and perhaps on biz cards

we are uncertain as you might be able to tell.. about whether to go the emblem like you have designed or with the depiction of Maine and a more literal representation of the name of our store Maine Pet Supply...

thanks for your creative work!

Hello! I just submitted two new variations based on your feedback: #62, #63.

Yes, of course, you'll get both versions for different use, as well as b&w ones in case you need them,

and, you're welcome :)

Hello Again,

I was travelling and found it difficult to respond.

Thanks for adding the ships wheel, we like it but for various reasons ( confusion with a similar logo in our area for one) we will prob not go with the wheel.

So entry 24 is still our favourite of yours. Can you tweak it ever so slightly to soften the points on the tips of the ears for dog and cat and for terminus of mouth on the fish.

Im not sure if you saw my comment on the four season idea .. a pet in each season.. i think you could prob come up with something colourful and I think you clean bright style works with the idea... a colour for each season, a symbol for each, an animal for each?? If you are interested I could help explain the four seasons here in maine...I also put a short post in the general discussion area.

thanks again....

Hello, is there anything else I can do to improve the logo? Please keep in mind that the logo needs to be readable when used in smaller formats and should also work in black & white.

Hi!

Thanks for that.

I will be working on logo today.. Prob within next 2 hrs and my goal is to choose and end contest today if possible... Tomorrow, if not.

Your logo has always been a favourite. If like to ask you a few questions.

First I will say: I think that 83 is our favourite of yours. I like added colour, the animals in the dark blue outlined in white to stand out. It is just generally pleasing ..as was 24. But I do want your opinion as the artist and marketing specialist.

Qs
Which of yours do you think is the strongest design?

Jim and I (we are a couple and new biz partners) like fun and colour. Thus we like 83. I like having the four seasonal colours. I think we can through the year highlight them by season in advertising? Your thoughts?

Our building front has a peaked gable.. A large 8' plus diameter circular logo would look great!

Our street sign (shared with other stores in the plaza) has a horizontal space for signage.. I am wondering how to address our circular logo there. I tried to play with it.
Your recommendations?

The same question I have for biz cards....how will this design work best in that instance do you think ?

image.jpeg

Also, regarding the text for our name. You chose the emphasis to be on pet supply. I am wondering if all three words should be more evenly emphasized so people will remember our name?

Also.. When we decide on one design do we get more than one version? Ie one (or two) to work for sign(s) one for biz card. (I can see this being great on polo shirts, or t shirts, shopping bags, mugs etc)

If these things are not part of what we receive at end of contest then can we continue to work with you or do we take the design to a local person to rework for new application?

Thanks very much. It has been a pleasure to work with such motivated artists... I am very excited to know shortly how it is that we will present the face of Maine Pet Supply to the public.. And convince them to come in!!!

I really look forward to hearing from you.

Feels like we are close!! Yay!

Hi.. I just had another look..

And tried printing in grayscale.

What if the outlines of animals in 83 was thinner? .. Allows more room for colour, less busy with lines maybe, but still reproduces well in gray scale? Is gray scale what you meant by the logo needs to work in black and white as well?

I am homing in on your design ..

The above two comments I originally sent on April 3rd by return email from logotournament. I am not sure if you got them.

I would like to end contest early.. can do so today if we can get together on the above questions.

I so hope we are able to!

Kindest regards, Carol

Also I had sent a pic in the email but I guess they wont print here. It was in reference to more horizontal applications : I designed it using a similar lay out as in your design #6, but using the disk (without the words) from our fav #83. #85 might be best in some applications - so don't know if we can get both as variations?/

ANXIOUSLY AWAITING your reply.

Hi Carol! Short answer to of your questions: Yes! :)
Longer one: Of course you can get all different variations, rounded one, and horizontal for different purposes! As for the while outline around animals, we can do it thinner, not at all a problem! I can also prepare b&w versions for you, so no worries :) You can end the contest at any time and I'm happy you like my work :)

Best Regards

PS - I didn't receive your messages on the 3rd, maybe there was something wrong with the website or their servers. I got then now though so it's all good.

EXCELLENT.. thanks for your quick response..
So as I gather we can tweak these designs ever so slightly in the next phase? If so I will choose winner now.

Feedback: I think I like the finer line, if you think so. I like the four colours.
For a horizontal version i like 95 but would like to see if it works with an additional dark blue circle around the disk, with the green colour filling between the two circles. And I wonder if we could look at a couple of different ways to do the words. Both of these are with the thought of introducing more of our green...

Sure, we can refine the horizontal version later on, no worries. Once the contest is over, we'll be in touch via private email outside of this website.
