I think the san-serif font could be better than the serif. It puts a decorative influence / emphasis on 'LUXE' - and I think that's good.
But I don't think it's the right san-serif font for CHARLOTTE. The 'R' in CHARLOTTE is strange. And the letter are 'tall'. I think this is the right track though.
I really like the font in #42 - I just don't know what it is.
#69 through #72 - I don't think the diamonds or dots work as well as the lines. I'm asking myself what do the lines contribute to the logo? I'm not sure, but I like them.
Could you do an example without the lines? This will change the spacing but I still would like to see this option.
I thought it was worth seeing, with dots and diamonds. I have uploaded four more variations without the lines. In two of them I left the kerning (spacing) in place and in the other two, I reverted the spacing to a normal typing style.
The vertical lines you like don't necessarily need to mean something specific. They are purely a design element to help the logo sent the desired message and be more memorable. The name (LUXE), pretty much does the job of getting the message across.
Take the Nike logo for example. It doesn't mean anything specific. It's just cool and memorable. :)
I have a question for you - I'm comparing the font difference between #44 and #50, serif vs non-serif - I'm now looking at #44 and I like the consistency instead of the contrast of #50 (the serif font).
Do you have a designer point of view - or does this really come down to taste??? Thanks for your patience with me. ;-)
It's a matter of taste really. Usually people like to have Trajan Pro (the serif font) in the design, but on the other hand it's everywhere. True, the san-serif fonts can be just as common, but they are standard.
I personally like a bit more how the serif ones turned out. Print-wise, I think a better choice would be the san-serif ones, especially if you want to use the logo in small placeholders or if you want to sew on shirts, for example.
If we're talking about this particular logo, you can certainly use the one you like best, be it the serif one.. and if the need comes, switch to the sans-serif ones if you encounter an issue at any time.
