The design in #8 is very strong, I'd be interested in seeing variations on this concept. The elements which work really well are the outline of facial features and swept hair implying motion. There is considerable room for possibilities in the letter outlines, they are overshadowed by the quality of the image.
Rotating the silhouette counterclockwise was good, it is easier to produce an icon now that the bounding rectangle for the outline is closer to a perfect square.
"ua" should be either in lower case or small caps.
The "Lua" lettering should use a heavier weight, similar to the "DJ" weight.
The pink headphone earcup works really well with the silhouette, because the silhouette is flat and cool, while the earcup is hot and has the highlight - it really pops out. This very effectively communicates the music-oriented nature of the product.
We like a clearly feminine silhouette. The forehead in #8 was strongly female, while #10 seems quite masculine. Note that "Lua" is the portugeuse word for "Moon" (feminine noun form).
We like the long flowing hair style in #8 for the same reason, it is feminine.
The logo text and silhouette will always appear on a dark background. For the best rankings, specimens should be submitted on a black background.
Thank you for the fantastic feedback. I am back working your logo today. I submitted the last few with a temporary box around the icon so that you can gauge how it will fit within the square space on the icon dock. If the icon is more straight than we will have to deal with the hair to fit it into the space...flow it up or under...or both perhaps.
#34 We might be able to live with just cropping the rightmost side of the hair to get the icon to fit. The rotation is a good compromise between filling the square and not creating too much empty space.
#33, #34 The best headphones band, the single lock above the band is well placed (unlike #8). The weight on the "Lua" letter shapes looks the best.
#10 Best "DJ" letter shapes and weight, best earcup.
#35, #36, #37, #40 Hair is inferior to other specimens. I see that it does have a better fit into a square but I think cropping the right side to produce an icon would be preferable to changing the hair style.
#37 Negative space isn't as good as positive space
#32 Logo text baseline not at an angle of zero degrees (i.e. horizontal)
#36 White backdrop and shadows obscure the silhouette, taking attention away from details.
We'd like to see the "DJ" shape and weights from #10, and the "Lua" shape and weights from #33, #34.
I have uploaded the final files for your approval (I don't get paid until you approve them :))
In the .eps file, I also included just the icon on a transparent background both with the headphone band in black, and one in transparent for future applications you may have for it.
