AND.......SAMBA is a high flying, jungle, desert, rainforest adventure in hot air balloons traveling throughout South America in the fall of 2010. Four balloons, five pilots and their crew will travel down the Pacific Coast of South America and then back up the Atlantic Coast to bring Hot Air Ballooning to dozens of towns, villages and cities where balloons have never been flown before.
The adventure will begin in Columbia, through Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil and end in Venezuela. The balloons and their crews will brave the jungles, the plains, the mountains, pampas and rain forests to see the geographical wonders of this continent but also bring the wonder of lighter than air flight to thousands for whom a balloon has only been a little bit of plastic on a string.
Carefully treading their way down the coast of South America, the crew will film and document the flights and the experience of the local people who will get to see the "globos" fly, but many will also get the chance to ride in one while it is tethered in the town square, of local sports field. The adventure will tale many weeks as the crew and the organizers bring something very unique to this part of the world and record on film, in video, and most importantly indelibly etch images in the minds and hearts of our South American neighbors.
The adventure will create a unique photo and video journal of the expedition with the highs, the lows, the ups and downs pf the expedition doing something that has never been attempted before. Following in the legendary footsteps of the legendary Alberto Santos-Dumont, from Brazil, this new group of aviation pioneers will brave the hardships of the arduous trip and bring back the video journal, but leave behind a legacy that harkens back to the Montgolfier Brothers and their roles as first pioneers in "lighter than air" aviation.
