Really awesome designs!! really like the diamond needle on the record and how diamond fits in with stone as well! Clever. I really like that design. It feels very country but don't want to pigeonhole our look to only country in the event we progress to other genres. Maybe play around with STONE font for something more modern?

Keep them coming! loving the diamond. Show us modern vintage.

HI Dave, is your latest design done in gray? Looks blue. One of our team members said the extension on the 'Y' should be removed. See what you can do with that. Thanks!

Just noticed the extension on the 'y' - is that the stylus of a record head?

Hi again, The extension in the Y - its the little arm part a stylus. I can certainly remove it.

Blue gray? :) we can make anything any color any time so I'm not too worried about specific hues right now.

Still working on this one.

Hi Dave, great! I'm liking the Stylus now! I see it. Let's leave it. Keep working on this one!

Still undecided about the removal of the loop in the L. Which do you prefer?

His again, Im not sure myself yet :) working on another idea. For me it was a meter of balance. the loop was detracting from the finger arm and my eye kept going back and forth :)

I will continue to bat this about and post my thoughts and any new ideas. Nothing is set in stone yet, we still have plenty of time in the contest.

Hi Dave, can we see 146 and 147 with the loop in the L. Which of the two designs do you prefer?

Hi. I will post those for you in a few. I really like them both, #147 is getting a bit more solid in terms of a defined shape and housing for the stone.

Are we 100% married to using a script font for Liberty?

Happy new year. #153 is a bit of a different take, more of just a suggestion in the arm with the crossed T.

#155 and #154 I felt like the arm need to look a it more mechanical or manufactured (more convincing).

These are really getting the for me, nicely balanced on the stone. I am going to get some opinions on my side. It helps sometimes to hand it to someone and ask them what they see :) You can stare at a thing so long you're not quite sure if you're just talking to yourself :).

Will keep you posted.

Hi Dave, happy new year as well. I prefer the arm of the original first or second one. Looks too obvious that we're trying hard. having the diamond is cool and a subtle reference to the stylus is fine. One of my designers suggested to compact the design a bit - not sure what you think about that. She says it will be difficult to use in some applications? I ranked the first one you did as number 1. Please add the orange diamond to it. Play around with a bit more compact design if you think the design will lend itself to it. Thanks!

Hi Dave, this is our first time doing this contest. Do I have time after the contest expires to select the winning design or do all modifications have to be made prior to expiry? Will my final rank at the end of the contest remain or do I have time to think and re-evaluate? Thanks.

H again. You have i day left to the top 5 phase.

- Only the Top five ranked designers move forward making logos, Its usually the place where we are polishing up their ideas. New ideas are welcome as well.

Rank accordingly.

Then this will end and you are in Judging mode and only the top ranked designer can submit.

Contest ends and then you have a week to pick a winner. The relationship can continue beyond Lt but only after the contest is closed.

(you should click on the Help at the top and give it a quick read)

Hi Dave, still feeling #142, possibly with the orange diamond. My partner really loved #142 at first starting to have doubts. trying to picture logo on everything - it would look awesome on etched glass and a tshirt, but how would it look on the back of a cd cover? Is it distinctive enough? Looks pretty damn sexy, not sure if its distinct enough? do you still have ideas to build on for #142? This is tough, really tough :)

It can be difficult to picture it on different thing. That why you need a designer who can design things for you and keep the brand idea consistently strong.

Color can be applied in different ways on different things. Most importantly it has to work in one color.

I love this idea, it is a solid own-able, memorable, concept -

The stylus is a light free moving precision device
The diamond is cherry, couldn't be more appropriate for the idea.
The vintage style speaks to heritage and a successful establishment.
Its different for sure - haven't seen anything like it.

It can work as an elegant piece of stationary or something that has more bite and flair like a sticker on #164 - this could also make a cool tee shirt. Each thing is made in service of the brand idea and you can have some fun with it.

I can also see this logo broken down into the simplest of marks - an <L> inside the diamond as a tiny signature.

A couple of things to note. You like the big script, I do too :) but it sort of cuts down on the options of what happens next because it tends to take over the design and diminish any real concept that need to come out. Don't discount the word itself. It reads 'Liberty' and has same meaning for most of us - Freedom. Its not really imperative that we make it look 'free'.

Your audience is intelligent and creative so try not to talk down to them :)

Given this format on LT, we really cannot do mock ups (tees shirts and stationary etc.) so its difficult to show proof of concept by showing how brand pieces can be proliferated.

Given the brief, I think that I have delivered on a good brand idea - a way of talking about yourself to other people and I think also that great copywriting that can come from this.

Remember, this is a crowd sourcing site, so please do not expect the same kind of due diligence afforded in a design house who can show the possible breadth of the brand, copy and all.

This one is going into my portfolio for sure and I would certainly be happy to work with you outside of LT after the contest. There is still some time, and I can do more but keep in mind so far for me, it has all been for free :). I hope you understand.

Apart from perhaps tweaking the proportions a bit and adressing any specific requested alterations from you on the logo in question, I'm not sure how much more I would do to this.

Please let me know what your concerns are.

Kind Regards
Dave

HI Dave, really appreciate your feedback on the design. I agree with you regarding the concept and many ways it can be branded. I also thought that it would make a good short form design as well. I keep coming back to this logo, it really embodies what we're all about and takes on a personality of its own. I'm liking it. Would you do anything more refinement with that logo or you content on how it looks? Thanks again.

Hello again, Yes I want to do some small tweaks to the scale and spacing.

I will post them up later tonight.

Best regards

thanks. We really like it! Pretty excited about it actually. Like the stylus in this one the best - very subtle and when you see it, then it becomes even cooler. My partner was impressed with your creative intellect regarding the idea behind the concept. A short form of this logo with LSR in a diamone would be pretty sick too. Thanks again.

Hi Dave, you able to make the Liberty font a bit thicker and remove the line to make it tighter - insert STONE inside the bottom of the Liberty script?

Hello Johnny, thank you so much, any special requests as I prepare your file for upload?

Everything looks good, just not sure about the colour and how its being displayed on my monitor - our colour scheme is grey and orange - are you able to to do an all-grey logo and another one with the orange diamond like in your other design? Thanks.

Hi again. You can pick a gray and orange on the web an send the url to me and I can use those colors if you like. Just do a search for color charts. Remember the colors can be changed at a later date as well, if change your mind.

And yes I will include two color versions in the file as well as black and white.
