Thank you for the opportunity to submit #3 for your consideration. A simple, modern, and memorable logo to ensure brand recognition. Your feedback and requests are always welcomed! Cheers, Geoff (Pax)
Trying to create a modular logo for you with an icon that can be used as a stand-alone symbol or with other wording beneath it; Lever & Bloom Restaurant, or Cafe, or Bistro, etc.. Also, any of your product names; Pastries, Hot Chocolate, Juices, etc. Open to direction, requests for colors, fonts, and such. Want you to get a logo you truly love and represents your brand. Many thanks!
Hi Geoff! Thank you very much for submitting all the entries. Having had a look at the entries I now understand that I need to give you more details about our name and update the brief a little bit. I love green colour however it might not look great as the main colour of our vehicle. I shall attach some more pictures and make a list of my thoughts/ideas shortly. Thank you again. Elena Lever & Bloom Coffee
Also -- please know that if there are any of my logo designs that you don't care for as much as some of my others, feel free to mark them as "prefer others." It does not offend me and helps you keep a cleaner record of the logos you like best, if you wish.
Hi Geoff, Here is some updated information (I have also updated the brief and uploaded several photos). BRIEF UPDATE 21 June 2015: 1. Lever & Bloom Coffee – What’s in the name? (the word ‘coffee' should not be excluded from the name Lever & Bloom Coffee, exception – a pictorial mark). Lever stands for a lever in a traditional espresso machine (the one we have installed in the van is Izzo Pompei 2 Group Lever Espresso Machine). Bloom/Blooming is the industry term for ‘degassing’ freshly roasted and ground coffee prior to brewing. Thus the name Lever & Bloom Coffee tells that we serve hand crafted espresso based drinks and also have brewed/filter/drip coffee on offer (with a brew being installed inside the van later in the year).
2. Background: Could you please create a logo with a solid background colour/colour combinations so that we could decide what colour of the van works best with the colour of the logo.
3. We requested to avoid pink and orange in the beginning however now, having had a look at the entries, we think that green and brown or the combination of both would not look right printed/painted on the van (although we like green colour in the submitted entries on its own). Could you please try combinations of the following colours: dark blue. blue, teal, duck egg, coral (please have a look at the attached images of Acme Cups and Doughnut Vault Van – we would like to have something similar in terms of colour combinations). We also like when the colours/fonts are blurred, blackboard effects, and sketched/pencilled images.
4. Could you please also incorporate ‘Est. 2014’ words in the logo.
5. Coffee Flower/Latter Art (rosetta, heart, tulip) might be used as a pictorial mark however not obligatory. 6. Ideally the final logo should look like a stamp – round, square or rectangular shape. Thank you. Elena
Hi Geoff, Thank you very much for submitting so many different entries. It's hard to choose but I will try to provide a comment for each one now. Initially, my partner really loved #62 and its previous versions. I really like the font for lever & bloom and the way 'coffee' is spread out. I'm not sure about the colours though - I mean this combination of chocolate brown combined with beige looks great on it's own (and it already looks like a business card) however I do not think brown will look good on our vehicle.
Now, I guess it's between the variations of #68 (with L&B) and #70 (stamp). Having compared both I now think that #70 has too many elements to it. Now that you incorporated all our requests in one design I see that it was too much. Maybe it will work without two latte art symbols and with coffee written in a smaller font (and, perhaps, re-positioning the words so that the main focus is on the words 'Lever & Bloom' - coffee is there just for clarification purposes as 'Lever & Bloom' is not self explanatory).
Thank you so much for the input! I love #62 and #71 quite a bit myself. I will work with color on that design. I will also create the versions of #69 and #70 with the requested revisions. Happy to do it! I will work on them as soon as I awake. I've worked waaaay too late this evening (morning) as it is now 4:00 a.m. here in the states. Promise to work on them in just a few short hours. Again—thanks so much for your direction. Will do my very best to give you the best work for your brand! -Geoff
#68 and it's variations. This is our favourite design at the moment. I really like the blurred font. Perhaps you could try making 'Lever & Bloom' a bit bigger. However I think it would be a good idea to divide this logo in two. The stamp part will look great on it's own - we can use it to stamp loyalty cards (could you please make '&' sign inside the circle smaller or maybe try different fonts). We would like something else in place of the circle/stamp above the words 'LEVER & BLOOM' - perhaps some latte art - heart, rosetta, tulip - in a cup (the view from above) or without the cup, on its own and then the logo could be framed/rectangular shape. Or maybe a simple graphic image of a milk pouring in a cup from a jug (latte art) or a small glass of piccolo latte or other espresso based beverage ( I will attached some images for illustrative purposes). I'm not sure if I explained everything clearly and if it makes sense however I would like to thank you for submitting all the entries and your help!
Hello, Elena! Some quick questions/comments: In #68, The horizontal stem of the "L" is what turns itself into the "leaf" inside the base of the "&." If I make the "&" smaller, I'm not sure it will work. The leaf may have to go away -- if that's okay with you, I can try it, but I think the leaf is a strong element in terms of reflecting your philosophy of recycling, local sourcing, and other environmentally conscious practices. Secondly, when you say divide the logo in two, you mean: Create a stamp/icon to be used on cups and such, and a logotype (with full wording) for other applications, correct? That's what Im creating to submit here in short while. I will post them separately so you can see the two variants/applications. Only one can be chosen as a winner, but I can email you all variants (together, separated, black and white, etc.) after the contest is completed. Agin—thanks so much for your input. Cheers! -Geoff
Hi there Thanks for your updates. My wife she's out , she will be back in about 3 to 4 hours time . She's the one dealing with the logo so I will ask her to text you As soon as she comes. Thank you
Would you like to see what #84 looks like placed under #68? [Also. just FYI -- #59 and #62 will definitely be going in my portfolio! Still love those sleek, modern-yet-timeless entries. :-) ]
Hi Geoff, I do apologise for keeping you waiting. First things first. Thank you very much to continuing your work and sending us updated designs. Second, I have also noticed that other designers are kind of copying your ideas. It not really nice but it's not that easy just to jump on the bandwagon, is it? In the end of the day we know who contributed to the logo creation and who just tried to copy staff. In regards to the designs. I guess I need to explain myself a bit further. I'm still in two minds about #70 however let's leave it for now. I thought that our preferred design would be #68 so that we could separate it into two: use a circle as a small stamp and use the actual wording as our main logo (now I think that circled L&B letters look better in a previous version, number #68 itself rather than a smaller variation of '&' in #82. The reason for separating this logo in two is that we feel they kind of repeating each other - there is the name 'Lever & Bloom Coffee' and than the same 'L&B' in a circle. Therefore, we would like to have something else (a mark, a symbol, etc) in place of letters inside the circle or, perhaps, instead of the circle itself (I mentioned latte art previously - heart/tulip/rosetta - not as the addition to the letters inside the circle but instead of them). I do apologise for confusing you, perhaps I should have explained better). Maybe you could try putting together something like this please (I have attached several new files to the brief - one is with latte art tulip, however we would prefer it without the cup, the second one is the logo for UK coffee shop Taylor Street Baristas - they use rosetta in their logo - I have attache dit for illustrative purposes only). However now that you mentioned #59 and #62 and taking into consideration the fact that my husband really loves them from the beginning as well I'm thinking about adding graphic LB from #59 and #62 to #68 in place of a circle or inside the circle (I have attached my vision of it to the brief). Perhaps you can put them together and we could decide on the colours/colour combinations later, please. Also, if we choose this design would it still be possible to get the circled L&B letters so that we could use them as a small stamp (however now I think that the font of L&B inside the circle (small stamp) should be different if we choose the combination of #68 and #59/#62 as our main logo)? Sorry, I guess I have confused you even more now :) Thank you again for your help and great work. Elena
No, that helps! I have it now. You may want to remove those images you added now that I have them or everyone will be allowed to use them as reference if they remain part of the brief. Off to work on versions now. Thank you!
#106 — Latte art above text. The mint and chocolate color combo is contemporary and delicious, I think. Let me know your thoughts, requests, etc. Please and thanks, -Geoff
Hoping the mint and chocolate scheme is growing on you. (My wife's suggestion, so if you love it, I'll take credit and if you don't I can blame her. ;) I've done some experimenting and found that a rich coral (R:224 G:108 B:68) and/or blue highlights/accents on the truck or on advertisements, packaging, etc. would work well with that colour pairing.
#144 is fun yet classy. It affords you the opportunity to accent and highlight with coral, light blue, light green, etc. Just my thoughts. Your opinion is what counts. ;)
