Thanks for the designs so far. Many of them are quite good. I will try to add feedback directly on the entries themselves, but here are some general feedback notes:
-Don't bother submitting anything using crude clipart. We run screaming from anything that looks like it's come from a "50,000 ClipArt Images for only $9.99!" CD-Rom purchased at BestBuy. These are identifiable from 2 miles away and are dealt with accordingly. If you are going to use clipart, make sure it's quality clipart. If you don't know the difference, it's best to keep moving.
-I think our first comment looking down on the use of Scales/Gavel art in the logo was prejudiced by the fact that initial uses of these elements were in the bad clipart for. So, as noted in the entries ranked highly, it is okay to use the elements of scales/gavels, etc, if they are used well, particularly if incorporated in a unique fashion.
-COLOR: I find myself edging away from entries that are relying on a blue color palette, particularly those entries that have a more "serious" connotation. I think the blue palette connotes "seriousness" by itself, and when paired with another equally "serious" design, overdoes the "serious" factor. When things get that "serious", I think the message being sent to the visitor is one of exclusivity rather than accessibility. So, probably go light on or avoid blue-themed entries. So far, the red and brown palette entries are attractive to us, so earth-tones may be the way to go.
-FONT: Off of the entries we have, we're currently more attracted to those utilizing serif fonts than sans serif fonts, but, again, that's just based on entries received so far. We would not rule out an excellent design that has a sans serif font.
Keep up the great work! We'll comment more soon.
