Hey pour-trait, we're really liking the thought bubble variations...can we see something with a stronger color and some adjustments with the "multiple" convo
Hello, Thank you for considering my design, I'm really glad you like it. I updated the entries, I will also update the font. Do you prefer still a heavy font or a slimmer one?
Regarding the multiple convo, do you want them like in #106 #107 #108? or do you want them overlapping, each with a different color.
I will update the entries according to your feedback asap!
OK...thanks for your prompt reply! What time is it in Romania? LOL
Thought? We really like the thought bubble, as said previously. What if....we used a thought bubble outside of the "KACU" as a stand-alone mark that would work both with "KACU" and/or without? We will have multiple applications (web, print, outdoor, etc) so just trying to cover our bases.
Am I confusing matters?
Entry #89, but not grey-scale as multiple convo? Help?
I updated the entries with a few variations. The designs in #133 #134 could work with or without KACU text Please let me know what you think about them.
I'm curious too see the stacked thought bubble look of #121 applied to #134 #155. Perhaps also variation on the thought bubble where it encases the letters KACU as you did in #94, but without as many modifications. The simplicity of #90 but with the outline idea of #94.
Liking the variety you're adding. Can we see #90 in some of the new colors you've introduced?
What about a version of #165 with a single speech bubble but where the bubble is in outline form like #164, except just on the bubble.
The typeface you're using throughout most of these (#165) looks great. Strong, clear and easy to read at any size. I think it could stand alone without any symbols, but I'm wondering what ideas you have for a speech bubble symbol that could stand alone as a branded symbol.
Here are the updated entries #227 to #232 with different color design and also the following with the outlined speech bubble with two different shapes. Regarding the stand alone symbol, I was thinking of using an exclamation point inside the speech bubble that could link it to the K's letter vertical column. It represents the constant flow of news and also highlights the interaction regarding the speech bubble symbol.
I have updated the font a bit in #262. I think is more grounded, balanced and open (the A looks better, de C is more open and overall it looks more reliable. Looking forward to your feedback.
Thank you for your willingness to make the requested changes...
After some thought and discussion on our end, we're a bit "concerned" that the thought bubble concepts are too overdone in USA (if you google "thought bubble logos"). So all that to say, what could you suggest/modify to make #234 distinctive without looking too thought bubbly...
Hello, thank you for your feedback so far! Seeing your site http://kacu.org/ I noticed the wind turbines which through my research I came to find out that Texas produces the most wind power of any U.S. state so we can incorporate this element as a distinguished mark. Let me know if this could be relevant to you.
I will work on this immediately. Any feedback is deeply apreciated
I came up with a different concept staying away from the speech bubbles in the entry #478. I kept the rounded corners specific to my original design trying to encompass the constant news flow your site provides. And also the diversity of its programs which I can highlight through adding 2 or 3 colors(politics and culture during the day, classical music and arts in the evenings).
#478 is interesting and I appreciate your effort to research our brand. Is there a "flat" version you can try that wouldn't use gradients? We're concerned about some of the printing we'd be doing and the need to be able to simplify it to one color for some situations.
Hello, I updated the new entries as you requested: flat design (with no gradients) with and without shadows and also I changed the font with the flat top A. Also, I'd like to know if you would be interested in a colored version of this design (one color per side of the square). Thank you again!
Hello, I updated the new entries with the 89.5 frequency. I have used the same font family to give the logo unity and an uniform look. My personal favorites are the following: - #547 #546 with the "89.5" seamless embedded in the logo and #548 and #549 which could be used as a stand alone symbol (as you requested) - #543 #544 with the "89.5" integrated inside the U adding more personality to the font (making it slightly uncommon and custom made)
We just extended our contest one more day. We would like to see a few more designs with 89.5 and KACU. We would like to see your ideas with 89.5 being primary as well as KACU being primary.
Awesome! I will continue to create and update existing designs. In order to create a more personalized logo could you please tell me 3 elements that your broadcast station want to transmit through this logo design? I need a bit more than the "Top Three Things" you mentioned in the contest description.
As I said before any feedback is deeply appreciated! Thank you!

We need KACU in the logo, but 89.5 is also a way people remember us on the radio dial. We extended the competition to see if we could see some experimentation with 89.5 using type and design to bring these ideas together. How might it come together if KACU were primary and 89.5 were secondary in the relationship? And if 89.5 were primary and KACU were secondary in the relationship?
Hello, I came up with some new concepts after the info update you gave me. I tried to maintain a professional look across the designs and by splitting the rounded square I tried to illustrate the diverse community that supports your radio.
In #614 i managed to seamlessly integrate the 89.5 FM into the logo so you have the best of two worlds putting more accent on the frequency being a central element. The red dot also attracts the eye in the center piece and reminds of the red scale used in radios.
#618 i created also icons that could be used as a stand alone symbol to illustrate your programs (politics / culture & classical music / arts.
#619 I tried to incorporate a radio mic. with the frequency being an important element.
