To clarify, 'would like one, don't have one yet' is not our slogan. We were hoping to figure out a creative,descriptive slogan through this tourney. Not sure if the designers are willing/able to do slogan creation as part of process? We were going to use "our name says it all" but without some addtional written or visual description, it won't say what we are so we were thinking something like "Lakeside Grille", "Burgers and Ice Cream", "Sandwich Shoppe and Parlour", etc.
I think #30 would lend itself nicely to using both--one on top, one on the bottom of circle?
I think #31, 33, 30, & 34 are my favorites so far but gonna send to the friends and family for more feedback. Thanks for making it difficult.

Do you mean using "Jim" on top and "Dandy´s" on bottom off the circle #30?

I'm not sure if my other comment got to you--I did it on my phone. The #30 comment was referring to using 'Our name says it all' or equivalent on half circle and "Lakeside Grille" on other half of circle. I like several aspects of many of your designs and may combine parts of different ones in final design. I am going to put one of yours in the top 5 just so I can keep working with your ideas but the one I put in is not necessarily eliminating the others completely, I just don't have enough spots to keep several in top 5. Joao, wow you were busy last night. #68/69 still my favorite design but I wish there was a way to make the ice cream and bun more obvious. I would like to see a combination of two of your ideas, something like #72 but add the slogan (see new general comments to all designers about slogan!) around outside of green circle similar to 68/69.
Using the character as the I in JIM is creative idea and may work, but I'm not sold on the cowboy theme. think 'kids, fun, playful, etc".
Hope you like my new submissions. I don´t know if i will make the character drawing today because is a little late hee, i don´t think i will have time. I´ve dedicated to the icecream and burger drawings.

Busy again I see.....I like a bunch of your new stuff. It's up to you if you want to invest the time in developing a character or not. I can tell you that as of now, it basically is gonna come down to if we choose to go character or not. If we decide against a character, it will be one of your designs, probably 100, 106,107,108 with minor modifications probably in font and/or art relocation. If we go with a character, you will need a new one to be in the running.
I will invest time in the character, but will just submit tomorrow by night i think, here is 2 am now, i´ve done some drawings on paper but didn´t like them. And i have some ideias, but only have time for one of them. I was imagine a boy and a girl ( http://www.zoomdigital.com.mx/imagenes/capturas/TomSawyer05.jpg ), the boy holding an hamburger and the girl a icecream. And doing with the other hand the "okay" with the finger.
But not sure because your logo name is Jim Dandy's (male name). And don´t know if you are up to a ideia like this? Or i will draw only a boy character. What do you think?
I'm curious about the boy AND a girl--might be interesting but also not sure it would work and might be too much character, not enough name and slogan.
If you want to continue down the 'tom sawyer' path as the others have that is fine as it seems like that is kind of how we have been trending because we are lakeside in a log building, small town, etc--but that concept is getting pretty competitive now. One thing we have been tossing around is making the character more like someone TODAY'S kids can relate to and we will be targeting a lot of kids playing sports during the summer. You may want to try and go off on your own limb with a 'sportsy' kid with jersey and baseball cap? One of our original favorites was the very basic design by denzu with the head/cap on orange background--we just couldn't get him to follow up and develop it. Who knows, you might hit a home run with something completely different than what's up there--right now you could pretty much pull any of the top 5 from a hat and wouldn't really matter. Just a thought.
Finally, I really like #100 for a non-character design. A couple minor changes: 1. Is there a slight font change that could make the J in Jim more obvious that it isn't a T for Tim; 2. Can you get the burger more upright like 107 & 108; 3. change slogan to 'Tasty Eats & Frozen Treats' and make slightly larger font.

Don´t think i will have time to finish the drawing. Do you think in the Judging phase you can put me on 1st just for some minutes just to submit my boy drawing? I will say you when i´m finish. Let me know if it´s possible this.
I have you in #1 slot to submit, probably won't rerank until morning my time--6AM CST. Not prob gonna pick a winner until tomorrow night or the next day. We are still undecided.
Joao, I do really like the new concept of the sporty kid leaning on name, but for some reason the character is coming across to me more as a leprechaun or gremlin than a boy? Not sure if there is something you can do to make him look more like a kid?
Also, FYI, we met with sign company last night and he is going to try to reuse/reface a couple of our old white bubble faces to save a couple grand so we have to go dark background. Over the next day or two, I am going to let all designers have the opportunity to be in #1 and submit revisions reversing color combinations to incorporate a dark background.
We are leaning green or orange for the background. Let me know if/when you have something and I can put you back in #1 if you are interested.

I don´t know if this help, since you are new in LogoTournament as a client. You can send a note to admin and extend the top5 phase, and all designers can submit without asking you to put them on 1st. I think you should not pay more for that, but not sure. But you can send an e-mail to Ivan an ask if it is possible to extend the top5 https://logotournament.com/help/client. Hope it helps.
