The logo in #25 is the Jewish Federation of North America. Even though this site is funded by the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona, I don't think we want to explicitly include that logo as part of ours. So, we'll need to use something a little different. I do like what you've done with #22 - that's an interesting one.
OK I withdrew that one - so other designers don't get the idea they can. ... I work with a lot of Jewish organizations and I teach at my synagogue in No. CA.
I will rework the concept - I just wanted to do other 'Arizona' icons than the cactus as an option.
I'd like to explore a few ideas around #22. I prefer a font more similar to #19. I very much like the idea of the blue and green - and the way you've used the Jewish star - that's really great. Perhaps we can even throw in an additional color like purple (I wrote a detailed note under the contest - please see this). So, if we take #22 and instead of just using a cactus, perhaps use a mountain with a cactus in the front view - and perhaps a purple sunset. This may be getting really complex (which I don't want) - but those are some ideas to explore. Please don't change the Jewish star - I really like that as-is.
in case you need the notes #29 is Kokopelli blowing a shofar! I like the symbolism of calling the people with the shofar!!! but not sure how obvious it is.
The team really likes your latest submissions. We prefer #30 to #31 - but like the small flower on the cactus. We have a few small tweaks that we would like to see, if possible:
- We prefer a wider cactus - something that's a little more geometric - for example, the cactus in #19 - We would like to experiment with font colors - and switch them out from their existing colors. Perhaps introduce gold and purple - instead of blue and green - or maybe some combination that will work a little better. Right now, the left hand side is really heavy in blue - and the right hand side is heavy in green. Let's create a little more balance with the colors - The mountains are a little busy - but we do like them. Perhaps we should make this a little simplified - choose a single color - and perhaps have it run only 50%-70% of the width of the top area - so that it's not quite as busy. The sun is great - we want to keep that - but the logo overall is a little busy - so anything we can do to simplify it a little is great. - We like the way the fonts are presented in #19 - with the Jewish and Tucson having different font weights - Lastly, can we see a sample of the Jewish star having one additional line (the bottom of the star pointing back up, so that the eye leads to the word Jewish instead of the bottom of the page). I'm not convinced that this will look better - it may make things more busy - but it will be good to see the two options.
I'd like to see if there's a way we can make the design a little less busy. I think the mountains should be condensed so that they don't take up as much space. Take a look at #34 - the mountain is much less prominent - yet it's enough to give us a sense of what we're looking to show. If we can condense ours too, that would be great.
Also, as far as color goes, I would like to see if it's feasible to have the cactus in green, the star in blue (as it is), the mountains in one color (or two if it's subtle), the sun as-is - and the Jewish Tucson in white and blue (respectively).
As we get into the closing stretch of the competition, I'd like to find a way to simplify the design a little. Right now, it looks great, but it's a little too busy - and finding a way to simplify this may do the trick. Perhaps we simplify the mountain to be a one-color simple mountain shape - and maybe move the sun behind the cactus instead? Anything we can do to simplify would be great.
I will try something but after Shabbat... while I do things on the computer I don't do things to make profit from until tonight. - but it is fun to design...
a few simplified versions with a single mountain. You can get both a 1 line and stacked version for different applications.
I would love to continue to work with you on your campaign materials no matter what... I did some work for the Desert Museum there a while back and that was fun too!
We are holding a meeting tomorrow morning to decide which one we'll choose. Right now, we like the top 4 entries very much - we will see what the rest of the group says.
glad you got a good logo... let me know if I can help you promote your new brand and your program through Business Builders... we can do anything printed, embroidered or imprinted with the logo.
Thanks so much, Carol. In the end, we put it to a vote with our committee and there was no clear winner - but we went with the majority. I will definitely keep you in mind for future work.
