#3 is interesting. Although I have seen people forming a star in the past, this is a new take on that. #5 is more of the feel I was looking for...having the design element be more integrated with the name rather than a totally separate design. I'd like to see the star in purple or green
I like the Tikvah Fund logo you did (I recommended logotournament at a national jfs conference in april...It got lots of excitement. I wonder if this was for one of the attendees at my presentation), If the colors coordinate with our adoption logo, maybe the font can be more creative. I hate to limit you all to the one font only.
redid with no s and other suggestions. I love doing Judaic designs - I am very active as a teacher & volunteer at my synagogue in No Calif. I also told Amy Asin about LT and she has passed it to a lot of organizations she works with in the greater community. There are several Jewish designers who do great designs - even wrote to one to let him know to enter your contest. Hope we can find the best solutions for you. Other JFS organization logos are worth looking at for reference and ideas... thanks for considering my work.
Thank you for passing this on to others who "get" what we do. Can #8 have a heart in the middle rather than a star? I like how #6 used a design element as part of the name, though this isn't right yet..
how would #14 work stacked? (i guess i can picture the family still connected to the star with jewish above and service below) btw, is this blue the same blue used in the adoption logo font? Should I upload the actual logo?
per request - do you need both a 1 line and 3 line version? That was not 100% clear. Colors - I used the specs you gave - might be good if you have the Pantone Matching System (PMS) color numbers from the other logo - that can always be tweaked once you find the design that works best for you - I know there will be other designers joining in later in the contest too - that might be helpful to have the color match numbers in different modes - the colors you use are not considered "web safe" colors so the color will vary a lot from monitor to monitor. But you will need exact colors for print applications and that is why the PMS number is good to know.
Yes, I do need both 1 and 3 line version....I had that in my contest brief, but guess it wasn't clear enough.
The colors I gave were the colors given me by the winner of the adoption logo contest. She only gave me the 005EAD for blue for example...no pms colors. I was going to tweak the shades with a local designer (or the winner of this contest) before we create all of the materials. I do prefer a deeper blue, brighter green than what I see on my screens...more like you used for yad ezra logo. I'll put this in the general comments. Thanks for the imput.

The colors on the Yad Ezra logo are Reflex Blue and PMS 368 green Suggest PMS 513 for the purple/pink I will adjust the colors to those in your #1 choice version to show you ... note every monitor is calibrated differently so check on a few different ones... But in print if you give the PMS # they will be consistent
you'll love this: 26-27 reminded someone here of the christmas tree design (made of zig-zagging the line back and forth to form a tree!) Now that she said it, I see it, though i did like the movement of the lines.
this is similar to a layout i was playing with, using a more abstract star.
26 line up of the words is funky...the dot in service makes the i in family look like a j. thanks
I have seen that now that you mention it and after I sent this design in I saw a similar look for another Jewish organization while flipping through last week's J magazine (the SF area local Jewish publication) it was very odd to see it... the angle of the scribble was different but same idea. let me know if you want me to rework the alignment of the words with this concept... trying to think 'flow' for you... Actually I do like one of the other designer entries also... Have another idea I am playing with but work is keeping me from design fun today!
AND I have to organize a 'learning about shabbat' service for next month - later you might have some ideas for 'me' on that one.
hi..getting input from the committee now. they like #16 too..and how the design element can be used to highlight department areas in the horizontal. I am only going to rank one version of each logo for now to keep the contest more simple (did i miss 16 in the horizontal layout. i.e15 with the right colors?)
They wanted the line to be adjusted so the dot didn't go through it.
learning about shabbat. interesting! I'll see if we have anything around here to help.
99 I can adjust the spacing and there is the option to break the line for the dot on the 'i' OR even take the dot away on all the 'i's... any other feedback - I can adjust.
thanks, I am okay with 16 layout..a committee member asked for some reranking. The top 3-4 are pretty equal via committee votes for now, but I have no feedback until a conference call scheduled for monday morn. So I don't know feelings of dot under vs on the line.
thanks for the message. This is fun and I am happy to tweak however you want. I did some work for a JFS in CT and he thinks you are who told him about LT! small world. Hope you get the logo you love and is meaningful for your organization.
yep! i used LT for our adoption logo (as well as 2 other times) and recommended it in a presenation re: the adoption program I gave with our exec. dir. at the national (international inc. canada) conference in april. Glad it worked out for all of you.
Thanks... just an alternate way. Just returned from a workshop by Karen Kushner on making your synagogue more welcoming with your media materials... very enlightening. She agrees with you on having 2 versions of your logo one more horizontal to optimize space on a header and one more square for other materials... just thought you might want to know.
Hi, Yes 102 was ranked by one committee member. Others weren't happy with it. The concept is used too often around here (btw, only 2 of the committee have ranked). But it will get ranked in the final rankings.
re: 2 versions..Yep. I've been in this way too many years to know that one version may be used 90% of the time, but you need the alternate one. i.e., I have needed a logo in a long skinny line for a licence plate holder, and for the same event needed to fit it into a circle. It also MUST work in one color with no grayscale.
feedback from the committee call on 16 is that we like the clean look and usability of it, but some are afraid it is too simple. It was voted into the 3rd / 4th position (equal)
