38 through 41 - The new font isn't what we had in mind. Let's take a step back. In #19, we like the 'outdoor' font. In 41 we like the gold color. For the 'Inwindow' color, can we see a 'blue ribbon blue'? Let's try combining those. Once we get that down, we'll work on the 'inwindow' font next.
sure.. but I think the name is "awning" (if I´m not wrong, please correct me, trying to improve my english). I just tried to make a visual referent to the stores/retail space you use as a venue for AD, so everybody understands whats this company about, no matter if they are in the field or not. I came up with this because I always test my concepts with regular people (not designers) and always ask what they see or what they get from a logo, and most recognized a window retail store in the logo with the awning.
hahah. Didn´t know that. I was trying to find a way to make the logo easy to understand to everybody. That´s why I started with the "columns" and logo covering all the "front" of the store. Nat
We read your post, thanks. We'll keep it in mind. One thing we really like about the first place logo is the person walking by. However, given the comment in the post, it might be considered copying if everyone suddenly started putting the silhouette of a person in their logos as well. We'll leave that to you to decide if you feel that is playing fair.
Anyway, even though we take down awnings, we liked the concept from the standpoint that it gives a greater feel that it is a building. Perhaps you can play with that idea more by creating a sense that there's a big building above the ad...
I´ll try with the building. I just wanted to keep it as clean as possible and having a suggested building instead of a real one. I mean, I want it to look like a logo and not a poster :) - but I can try it and see if it looks too busy.
Also want it to be readable/legible and that´s why I am using bold letters..
If I use a person walking it might be considered a copy since that´s something you didn´t ask for. I really didn´t use it in my design in first place because it wouldn´t look good in small sizes (IE: for letterhead size) and would compromise lettering readability. I´ll think of something else.
#122 We spent a lot of time today discussing what we like about the top entries, and what we'd like to see adjusted. With yours, we decided we really like the lighting of the blue and gold. It looks really professional. The woman walking the dog is a nice touch, but she's a little too cartoony for our tastes. A little more realism would be nice. As for the storefront, our biggest issue with it is that it doesn't look like a storefront! There are 3 huge columns that chop up the space. Where would someone walk in? Where are the windows? Hope this is helpful and thanks for all you've done so far.
#168 Much better, although we're still debating the middle column. It adds to the in/out pattern, but also still seems a bit out of place. Anyway, one thing we'd like to see is if there's a way to give it more scale. The ads are typically twice the height of a person, but the woman and dog are almost the height of the ad. We probably don't want to make them any smaller or else they won't be recognizable at small sizes. So is there a way to make the 'ad' portion taller?
#171 I showed it to several people in the office, and separately, two different people said it looked like a 'Butterfinger' candy bar! I hadn't noticed that, but I see their point. Can we see a version with the gold and blue reversed? Lastly, we're still debating the area above the gold.. we feel like it may need something more or different to suggest a building, we're just not sure what.
Hi! I´ll google for Butterfinger because I don´t know what that is. I´ll try it with reversed colors and another way to show buildings, but I don´t think we should add windows or other stuff because we´ll have a visual competition with the name, and I think the name should stand out and not the building itself. What do you think?
