What We Do
IMiC is a research consortium of scientists and researchers studying human breast milk to understand how it supports healthy infant growth. Human breast milk is very complex, containing essential nutrients (fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals) plus important non-nutrient components that are not found in infant formulas (hormones, growth factors, enzymes, antibodies and live cells). The IMiC team is studying all of these components to understand how they interact and influence infant growth and resilience in different global settings. The study currently involves 1200 mothers and babies from 5 countries (Canada, Nepal, Burkina Faso, Pakistan and Tanzania).
IMiC is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and led by Dr. Meghan Azad at the Manitoba Interdisciplinary Lactation Centre (MILC; www.milcresearch.com).

Our Ideas & Additional Information
Key concepts are:
1) breastfeeding, breast milk, mother-infant
2) global, international (5 countries involved; we might add more countries later so probably we should not specify the exact countries)
3) complexity of milk (many components) & big data (we will use machine learning and artificial intelligence to integrate and analyze many components of breast milk)
Definitely do NOT include anything resembling a baby bottle.
Please see attachment for further info and visual ideas.
