here is a one color, grungy version that kids might find cool. used 'the lord is my rock' because rock can also be a reference to a basketball (the rock) so i thought it was fitting.
I really like this!! I think the kids will find it cool (grunge look). The reference bewteen the ball and the rock is great, I got that immediately. My only concern is that the '4' may disappear. I think it might be a right v left brain thing. I like all four, but the grunge look is what I think the kids will like.
HI Darren, Thanks for the feedback and the good ranking. I thought about your concern with the 4 getting lost and i think i have come up with a solution. I made a slight outline around the letters that is the same thickness as the basketball's seams. this outline helps bring out the negative space of the 4 (teh part which is lost between the top of the H and the bottom of the C).
I think it works much, much better now. thanks for the suggestion. Here is a version on black and white.
let me know if i can make any more improvements for you. thanks.
Looks great! The outline defines the H4C better...thanks! Thanks, also, for providing the logo on a black background. It was neat to see how it might look on a black T-shirt. Would it be possible to provide a separate file with the text "HOOPS 4 CHRIST" in the same font as "THE LORD IS MY ROCK" if chosen as the winner? Thanks for that creative slogan, too "The Lord is My Rock"...like it!!!
here are entries with the full words added. i did one with the same font as the slogan and another with the font the same as the H4C. If chosen, i can provide that file by itself or incorporated like it is in these entries.
Ok...I like the logo better without the full words...but a separate file of the words alone would be great! The kids seem to be going for the more colorful logos...could you try Entry #29 with the grungy look? Thanks!
I would guess the younger kids like the colors and maybe a bit older ones might think the grunge is cool. Keep in mind that keeping it simple is best for printing on jerseys....if that is the main purpose. Gradients and all kinds of colors cost much more to reproduce in screen printing.
that being said, i'm sure you will use this for may purposes and one of my designs might be better suited for one medium and someone else's may be more suitable for another.
Thanks for the feedback and good luck choosing your new logo.
Thanks! While the adults seem to really like your logo, especially the meaningfulness behind it, the kids seem to like the more exciting fonts. I agree...think your logo is simple enough to be used for a variety of mediums and we would be able to use a single color for some items and the more colorful one for others. You hit the nail on the head when you said the younger kids like the colors while the older ones will think the grunge is cool!
One suggestion from one of the younger kids, though I'm not sure how it will fit in with the rest of the logo...what about using a more playful or exciting or youthful font for the slogan? Maybe that would be a compromise?
sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but i was out watching my UNI panthers get beat (unfortunately........)
I will give those suggestions a shot and upload (hopefully) in the next couple days as i see you have extended the contest. i will work in some new fonts and hopefully it will sit well with your younger bball players.
here is one that is more grungy and has a font that i have modified to look like wet paint/grafitti. I am partial to the more simple 1 or 2 colors, but the kids might like the more colorful one (other one i uploaded.)
let me know if i can do anything else.
PS i dropped the crown of thorns on these entries because these layouts lended themselves better without it.
Thanks for the new entries... With Entry #s 82, 83, and 84, the basketball seems to blend in with the H4C a little too much. Like the font of "THE LORD IS MY ROCK" in Entry #81.
The lime green colored background is neat, but didn't care for that particular splotch. We, too, like the simple 1-2 colors, but will show the kids how it might look on a brighter colored T-shirt.
Also, we really like the crown of thorns.
What do you think about altering the H4C block letters to a more modern or youthful block lettering? Would that work with your design? Maybe something to go with the font you used in Entry #81 for "THE LORD IS MY ROCK." If you think the modern/youthful block lettering would work, could you try it with Entry #s 65 and 36, using the "LORD IS MY ROCK" from Entry #81? If you don't think it will work and wil take away fron the design, no problem.
here are 2 versions with your latest requests. the i changed the lime background on the one to me more rugged and more rectangular...to (sort of) imply a backboard. Let me know if you'd like to see anyting else.
it looks like its between the top two. I like yours for shirts, cups, etc. I just don't know if it would look as good on a jersey. I like the crown and the fish versions.
On another note, who's ur pick to win college mens bball?
well my pick was Kansas, but I was more than happy to see my bracket busted when my alma mater UNI knocked them off.
Honestly, I couldn't say. I had Kansas vs. west Virginia in my final 2 so I guess I'm kind of pulling for WV (to save a little face in the pool i'm in). I've always liked Bob Huggins too.
Okay, after looking over the various versions, could we see a few changes in the details?
Like the "grunge" and the size of "The Lord Is My Rock" in Entry #102. Like the size and placement of the basketball in Entry #111. Could you combine the two and could we see one version with the color scheme in Entry #99 and one version in a single color (black?)? Like this version for booster shirts and other promotional items...
For Entry #113, could you modify it to, again, use the "grunge" and "The Lord Is My Rock" from Entry #102 (no grunge on the number 4), as well as try to lower the ball just a bit to make it look more like it is going through the crown of thorns "hoop." The color scheme used in Entry #113 is fine, but would it work to lighten the black lines on the basketball just a bit and remove the black outline around the H4C...or would that take away from the H4C standing out? If you think the black outline is needed, could you make it go all the around the H4C (as in Entry #114), versus the line missing on the top of the letter (as in Entry #113)? Like this version for jerseys...
HI Darren, Here are the updated versions as requested. I feel on the stacked one that the darker color around the H4C is necessary, so i took your advice and continued it around the entire word. also made it look as if the ball is going thru the hoop as requested. let me know if you require any additional changes.
For the stacked version, I think I like your original entries better...could you try Entry #113 and Entry #114 with the grunge on the H4C and basketball from Entry #124/125, as well as the darker outline around the entire word? For Entry #114, could you remove "The Lord Is My Rock" from the top of the basketball, and for both entries, could you please add "Hoops 4 Christ" in place of "The Lord Is My Rock" under the crown of thorns in the same font?
