I am not sure about the F in #2. It is perhaps tilted a bit too much. I get the association of something that is out of work. Like a factory now longer in production. Please make sure that the colours used communicate the things we want to communicate. We are no color experts, so we need your help here.
We like the font, it is very visible. Your logo has a good potential, so please keep trying!
Hi, Thank you for feedback! I am not sure that I understand though - when you said the factory looking out of work you were talking about the shape? or about how inclined it is? It is a "classic" shape, indeed. It has the advantage of being instantly recognized as Factory, while having a "retro" look can be a good thing too - it seems that retro is the new contemporary these days :) However, I also posted some other concepts and preparing others, but I need your help on that - the photo album on facebook is yours, or you have any rights for use? I need to know because I want to use some visual elements that I saw there. About colors, a few words: basically, warm colors (yellow, orange, red, brown) express vivacity, positiveness, action, while cool colors (like green and blue) stands for calm, tranquility, balance. On the other hand, green can also mean health, eco, sustainable; red can stand for passion, but also for danger... what I am saying is that the meaning of colors are not absolute and it depends on the context they are used. So, in my opinion, a hero can be red or orange, but also can be green. White, gray, black are neutral - so can be used along with no problem. I hope that helped, somehow :)
Wow, I didnt see that the tilted F was a factory! I can see it now, and it is cool. But, the fact that I didnt instantly recognize that it was a factory make me in doubt. But I can see it now, and it is cool.
You are the expert on colors, we are not. I must say that orange and brown together looks good, while green and blue appears cold or at least to calm.
#21: This is cool! Could you try to use the font and colors from #9, keep the running man, but in the same brown color, and skip the orange "gown" (the clothing)? We would like to see that! Thanks for your good work!
Hi stranheim, can you please put on your Contest Brief, or on public comments of the contest, the answer that you gave me - about the rights on facebook photo album? Right now I am involved in a LogoCourt, for rights violation - so everyone should have that information. Thank you!
We are 4 people running Heltefabrikken. We have rather different taste. It seems, so far, that the concept of #2 is the only concept we all like.
Could we play a bit more with this design?
We have made a little test, and it seems that some people only see an F and some people only see the factory. Do you think it would be possible to make it more obvious that F is a factory? I dont know how that can be done. It might not be possible. It is already nice!
We could also play with more color combinations. Perhaps brown letters, but a green F (Factory)? Perhaps a green factory would communicate a different and environmental and healthy factory? Perhaps we should try red letters?
We would love to see more...! Thanks a lot for the excellent work you are doing!
Old posts moved from the front page (contest brief):
We probably like the font of #2 the best. We do not like the tilted F of #2, #3 and #8. The icon above #5, #6 and #7 can work. It is cool to work more on these designs! The #4 is very playfil, but totally lack toughness...
We might change the ranking when we have absorbed the different entries. Without being experts on colors, orange and dark brown looks good! Could you try to use the same two colors in the "H" (the icon)? Just to see how it looks? The "H" can work, but you could try to modify it, try out a few different designs.
Hi, #47, #48, #49, #55, #56, #57 - slightly modified versions of colors and F(actory). I rotate it a little bit more on #48, so it can be read more easily as an F but also as a factory too. #50, #51 - tried another factory on letter I, which is more easier to read #52, #53, #54 - some other versions with Hero on top: at #52 you can see him near another kind of F(actory), while on #53 and #54 he is getting out of HF "doors"
Also about colors: my favorites combination for your challenge it is orange/brown and red/black; I think they both transmit toughness and challenge. Anyway, the decision is yours after all - beside anything I could tell you (or anyone else as well) it is also a matter of taste. Of course, your taste :)
You have given us lots of new cool logos now! We will need some time to absorb them. We will therefore probably need some time to discuss, rank and rerank. Please dont get too confused with us, because this first feedback is based on my thoughts (Paal HĂ„rek Stranheim) or http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=201767118997&aid=224932#!/photo.php?fbid=437242508997&set=a.437242328997.224932.201767118997&theater. While it is the entire group who will discuss http://www.facebook.com/album.php?id=201767118997&aid=224932#!/photo.php?fbid=437242538997&set=a.437242328997.224932.201767118997&theater
#47: I like the tilted F more and more. It might not be easy for everyone to see that it is both an F and a factory. But i really like it. I also like Green factory and the association to soap bubbles instead of smoke. I dont know which colors should be used in the letters, but I like the green F!
#48: I like it very much, see #47.
#49: Yes, this can work! The colors of #57 probably looks better. Could we se a version with a factory-logo that is the same as the tilted F in #47? Which means more simple, green and blue smoke.
#50: This is cool! You have made a completely new image, using the I as a factory pipe! This can work!
#51: Same as #50, but better colors I think. Can you give us a version with all black letters, except the I which you keep green and blue like this?
#52, #53 and 54#: I believe we have agreed in the group of 4 that we dont really believe the running man is a good symbol for us. The first impression was good, or at least I liked it, but we should probably let it go.
#55 and #56: Thanks for making it easy to consider the tilted F. The longer time I spend on watching your logos, the more I like the tilted F in #55. #56 is more easy to read as and F, but I like the factory-logo so much now, I dont want to trade the factory-association for readability. But, the group of 4 might not agree with me on that...
#57: Cool! And better colors than #49. See #49.
Thanks again. We will need to discuss internally now! I will do a first ranking, but we will probably rerank several times during the next 16 hours.
PS:
Your comment regarding #53 and #54: The "HF doors". It could work. It is a nice thought. The F-factory is probably better. But it could work, smart thought of you, again.
Color combinations: I agree with you. Orange/brown and red/black both works very well. I fell in love with the green factory with blue smoke. If any, it fits best together with red and black, dont you think? But it might get too much. It might fit the best with only black letters. What do you think?
#48 is cool. Can we do something to make the F look more like a factory? Without making it complex. And, can we do something with the smoke, to make it look more like smoke? Perhaps it could be thicker/ more dense nearest the chimney/pipe and fade more higher up. Do you understand what I mean?
Hi, I just uploaded some more improvements which I hope you will find it another step forward :) #64: I've made some minor changes at the F - more rounded pipes #65: more work on the smoke #66: wanted to see how it looks if the F base is rounded too (and also parallel with text) #67: same as #66, only with more details on the smoke #68: added a graphic element for another version of #66 #69: same as #68, with detailed smoke #70: same as #48, only with improved F #71: same as #70, with improved F and detailed smoke - I think this one is more clear because both F and smoke #72: like #51 but without red, only with black/green/blue and again, #73 is like #72 with new detailed smoke
The group of 4 at Heltefabrikken like #71! The concept and design is great!
But we dont really agree with each other about the colors. Some of us consider that the logo (with green factory and blue smoke) lack toughness. It is playfull, but not tough. Therefore it doesnt really meet the top three things to communicate through our logo.
Could you play with some other color combinations, to add toughness, just to see how it looks?
Hi, I have just uploaded some other entries - with color variations #81, #82, #83 - brown letters with F on orange, red, brown #84, #85, #86 - black letters with different F: orange, red, black #87, #88, #89 - dark blue letters, color variations on F: orange, red, blue #90, #91, #92 - dark green letters, color variations on F: orange, red, black #93, #94, #95, #96, #97, #98 - red letters with F on: orange, red, blue, green, brown, black #99, #100, #101, #102, #103, #104 - orange letters, F on: orange, red, blue, green, brown, black
Hi, Sure, no problem - I will make another versions using the photos you provided I saw also that you are concerned about the smoke because possible negative association with pollution, but I think you have nothing to worry about - your business has nothing to do with heavy industry, so it's just a symbol. If you were let's say an energy company - sure, but in your case I think it symbolizes toughness, hard work, and not negative vibes... that's my opinion, at least And also, by being tilted it's also playful :)
Hi, #124 and #125 have new hero silhouettes... but I couldn't resist the temptation to use also the silhouette proposed already, which I found to be more dynamic, more memorable, more powerful - I hope you don't mind I said that... Also, if I may say more: you should consider the ROI rule (Relevance / Originality / Impact), which says that, if you meet at least two from three principle than you are on a good track; if you can reach all 3 than it's really good. So, you can verify your entries also by asking these questions: - does it have Relevance? - does it have Originality? - does it have Impact? I hope this can help!
