So, what I'm missing are the graphical elements (gradients, gloss effects, shadows, etc.). The look your going for is what we refer to as "Web 2.0". This can be added to any logo, really. One of the most important things you want, though, is to make sure the logo works (looks good) in its simplest form. So, what I will do is create some submissions with Web 2.0 styling.
If you want designers to submit entries with more of that feel, I would point out in your contest specs/instructions that you are looking for a Web 2.0 styled logo. This way designers will know that you're looking for submissions with all the bells and whistles.
